Ashley St Clair Responds After Elon Musk Claims She Was Not My Girlfriend Despite Sharing a Child
A public disagreement over private history brings renewed attention to Elon Musk's relationships and the women who share children with him

Ashley St. Clair challenged Elon Musk on Threads on Sunday, 11 October, after he said she had never been his girlfriend and claimed they had met only a few times, even though the pair share a child.
The exchange followed the limited US theatrical release of Alex Gibney's documentary Musk on 9 October.
Distributor Bleecker Street has scheduled a nationwide release for 16 October of the film, which features St. Clair and Musk's first wife, Justine Wilson, both of whom discuss their experiences.
Ashley St. Clair Questions Elon Musk's Relationship Claim
Musk responded to a news report describing St. Clair as his 'ex-girlfriend,' disputing the label in a post on X.
'Ashley St Clair was not my girlfriend. We only saw each other a few times,' he wrote. St. Clair replied after another account circulated a screenshot of his post on Threads.
She questioned his account of their limited contact. 'Oh i too have children and share secrets with people ive only seen a few times,' she wrote.
Her reply challenged Musk's account, but neither statement establishes how frequently they met or how they defined their relationship.
Gibney's film examines the Tesla and SpaceX chief executive's influence and personal relationships.
Elon Musk Disputes St. Clair's Documentary Allegations
In the film, St. Clair says Musk was 'very kind' before they had a child, but claims that kindness 'was all gone' afterwards, according to E! News.
She also recounts an alleged private conversation about having additional children through 'surrogates.'
St. Clair said, 'Because it was the only way we could create a legion of children before the civil war.' That is her account of a conversation, not an independently established statement by Musk.
St. Clair made another allegation at the Venice International Film Festival on 8 September, where the documentary screened.
At a press conference, she said she had been offered $40 million in exchange for not speaking publicly.
Reuters recorded her saying, 'And I was offered the opportunity not to speak for $40 million.' Musk rejected the claim on X. 'She was never offered that and has a history of making false claims,' he wrote.
Musk has also called Gibney's film a 'hit piece' and accused the director of featuring people who 'either have an axe to grind or don't even know me.'
Elon Musk Rejects Justine Wilson's Account of Family Dispute
A separate dispute concerns Musk's transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson. In the documentary, Musk's first wife, Justine Wilson, claims he treated Vivian's transition as the 'death of a child.'
Wilson also alleges Musk asked her to reassure their daughter. 'I'll always love her,' she recalled him saying.
She claims he later removed Vivian from his health insurance coverage after she came out as transgender. Musk denied the allegation on Sunday, 11 October.
'This is utterly false. At no point did I remove Xavier from health insurance,' he wrote on X, using Vivian's former name.

The insurance allegation concerns Vivian, not the child Musk shares with St. Clair. Neither Wilson's claim nor Musk's denial settles what happened.
Wilson also described the women with whom Musk has children. 'I always felt we were pretty interchangeable in this story,' she said, according to E! News.
She alleged that someone associated with Musk called the women 'the breeders.' The person's identity and the alleged remark have not been independently established.
'And there's a playbook, you know, it's kind of like an assembly line by now,' Wilson added. The film's nationwide release on 16 October could bring the competing accounts to a wider audience.
St. Clair's latest response, however, centres on a narrower dispute. She disputes the suggestion that they barely knew each other, while Musk rejects the description of her as his girlfriend. Neither statement resolves how the pair defined their relationship.
