  • Bundesliga giants will visit Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday following a 2-1 defeat at home.
  • Lewandowski missed the first leg due to a shoulder injury.

Robert Lewandowski will be ready to face Real Madrid when Bayern Munich visit the Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday (18 April). The Poland international was clearly missed by the Bundesliga champions during their 2-1 defeat to Los Blancos on Wednesday night but club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge promises "100%" he will be back for the return fixture.

Lewandowski, 28, was expected to lead Carlo Ancelotti's side on Wednesday night following another productive campaign, in which he has scored 38 goals in 40 appearances.

The Poland international scored a brace in during Bayern Munich's 4-1 win over Borussia Dortmund at the weekend but was forced off late in the game due to an injury in his shoulder.

Lewandowski and Ancelotti suggested after the game that it was only a minor blow and that the striker should be ready for the opening leg against Real Madrid.

However, the striker missed training sessions early in the week and was unable to shake off his problem prior to the Champions League tie.

His absence proved to be crucial as Real Madrid came from behind to secure a 2-1 advantage ahead of the second leg thanks to a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo in the second half.

However, Bayern chairman Rummenigge has given fans fresh hope of turning the tie around after revealing Lewandowski will be fit for the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"The medical department has done a great job, but the risk would have been too great [to play him in the first leg]," Rummenigge told Kicker. "For the second leg he will 100% be back."

Real Madrid are fully aware of the threat Lewandowski poses as in the 2012-13 campaign the Poland international scored four goals while playing for Borussia Dortmund, knocking the Spaniards out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Mats Hummels also missed the first leg due to an ankle injury and his participation in the reverse fixture at Real Madrid is still uncertain as there has been no news on a possible return date.
