'Bridgerton' Season 6 Update: Writers Begin Development on Eloise Bridgerton's Lead Romance Story
Writer's assistant Fiona Kida called the early 'Bridgerton' Season 6 development a 'blue sky phase'

'Bridgerton' Season 6 has entered its early development stage, with the show's writers beginning to develop Eloise Bridgerton's next chapter and revisit Julia Quinn's books for material that could shape her long-awaited romance.
The development was revealed by writers' assistant Fiona Kida in a now-deleted TikTok. Kida said the team had started working on Eloise's next season and was revisiting the books while considering ideas for the story. The update does not mean Season 6 has started filming, but it offers a new look at how the next chapter is being developed.
'Bridgerton' Season 6 Development Begins for Eloise
Kida described the early Bridgerton Season 6 development as a 'blue sky phase,' when writers pitch ideas before the storyline is finalised. She also said she was rereading Julia Quinn's novels and compiling favourite lines, moments and set pieces that could potentially be useful to the writing team.
That detail provides a glimpse into the early Bridgerton writers' room process as the Netflix series begins shaping Eloise's story.
The development is still at an early stage. There has been no indication that filming for Eloise's Season 6 story has begun.
Eloise's Season 6 Romance Points to Sir Phillip Crane
Eloise's expected Season 6 romance is based on Quinn's To Sir Phillip, With Love, the fifth novel in the Bridgerton book series.
The story follows Eloise's correspondence with Sir Phillip Crane, who has already appeared in the Netflix adaptation. Phillip is played by Chris Fulton, although his return for Season 6 has not been formally confirmed.
In Quinn's novel, Eloise eventually travels to Phillip's Gloucestershire home after their correspondence develops. The Netflix series has already established Phillip as part of the wider Bridgerton story, giving the show's writers existing material to build on.
Showrunner Jess Brownell has also previously indicated that Eloise will ultimately end up with the romantic partner from her book, rather than Theo Sharpe, her Season 2 love interest.
Why Eloise Is Expected To Lead Season 6
The latest Eloise Bridgerton Season 6 development follows an earlier clue from Brownell about the show's next two leads.
At the Season 4 premiere, Brownell used pocket squares marked with the initials 'E' and 'F' to indicate that Eloise and Francesca Bridgerton would lead Seasons 5 and 6. She initially did not reveal which sister would headline which season.
Francesca is now established as the focus of Bridgerton Season 5, while previous comments from Brownell indicate that Eloise is expected to lead Season 6. Netflix has not separately issued an announcement formally naming Eloise as the Season 6 lead.
Season 6 May Change Elements of Eloise's Book Story
Readers should not necessarily expect Bridgerton Season 6 to reproduce To Sir Phillip, With Love exactly.
Brownell has indicated that Eloise's season will contain changes from Quinn's novel, meaning some characters, story structures or scenes could be different in the television adaptation.
That makes the current writers' room work particularly significant. Kida's comments suggest the team is looking back at Quinn's source material while deciding which elements could inform the televised version of Eloise's romance.
Season 6 Release Date Remains Unconfirmed
For now, Bridgerton Season 6 remains in development, with Season 5 scheduled to arrive on Netflix in 2027. The fifth season will centre on Francesca and Michaela, putting Eloise's romance further along the series' production timeline.
Netflix has not announced a release date for Season 6. The latest writers' room update confirms that development has begun, but the finished Eloise Bridgerton romance is still taking shape.
