If you blinked, you probably missed it.

ARMYs, BTS' official fandom, barely had a chance to secure the newly released Army Bomb Version 4. The official light stick sold out on Weverse within minutes. Many fans reported that even the brief second release disappeared almost instantly after its scheduled launch on 9 February, 11am KST.

After nearly six years without a major update following the MAP OF THE SOUL Special Edition, Version 4 was always going to be in demand. This is the first 'new era' Army Bomb after BTS completed their military service, and fans have been waiting.

With RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook now returning to full group activities, many see this light stick as part of the group's real comeback moment — not just merch, but a symbol of 'we're finally here again'.

Weverse first announced the new model on 5 February.

More Than Just a New Look

On the outside, Version 4 still looks like the Army Bomb that fans are used to seeing in and out of concerts, but most of the changes are technical.

According to Weverse, the new model runs on an upgraded wireless system that supports more colours, smoother transitions, and tighter coordination with stage lighting. In concert terms, that means cleaner light waves, fewer delays, and more dramatic moments when the whole stadium moves together.

Fans can now check pairing before the show starts, because connected light sticks light up together. If pairing fails, some sections can still activate automatically.

The updated app adds venue maps, pairing booth locations, and a concert history feature. Colours can be changed directly on the light stick, including a 'colour shaking' mode that randomises effects.

There is also a cradle accessory that turns the Army Bomb into a small lamp. Many fans already know where that is going: beside albums, tour DVDs, and stacks of photocards.

Older Army Bombs Are Being Phased Out

This is where things start to hurt for long-time fans.

Weverse confirmed that wireless control for Version 3, the Special Edition, and Version 4 will only continue until the Las Vegas leg of the 'ARIRANG' concert in May 2026.

From the Busan concert in June onwards, only Version 4 will work.

That means older Army Bombs will no longer join the synchronised light shows that define BTS concerts. As of writing, sales of the MAP OF THE SOUL Special Edition have already ended.

Why the Army Bomb Matters to Fans

For most ARMY, this has never just been about buying plastic with LEDs.

The Army Bomb is part of how BTS concerts work.

It is there during 'Spring Day'. It turns stadiums purple during 'Mikrokosmos'. It moves in waves during 'Mic Drop', 'IDOL', 'Boy With Luv' and 'Yet To Come'.

Every show follows the same emotional rhythm: fanchants, member introductions, RM's speeches, Jin's jokes, J-Hope hyping the crowd, Jimin's vocals, V's presence, Suga's verses, Jungkook carrying the chorus.

Fans know when to lift it. When to wave. When to hold it still. It's a routine learnt over the years. Version 4 is meant to carry all of that into the next touring era.

What's Yet To Come

For fans who secured Version 4, there is at least some peace of mind. Their light stick will work at upcoming concerts. It will sync properly. It will not get left behind.

For everyone else, the waiting continues.

As BTS prepares to return to global stages and to the top of music streaming apps, the Army Bomb remains one of the clearest symbols of being part of their worldwide fandom — glowing alongside chants, banners, and purple oceans, and Version 4 is the next chapter of that tradition.
