Charlie Kirk Statue Vandalised With Red Paint Days Days After Unveiling To Mark One-Year Death Anniversary

A newly unveiled statue honouring Charlie Kirk has been vandalised with red paint outside Turning Point USA's headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, just days after it was unveiled to mark the first anniversary of the conservative activist's death.

The vandalism has drawn angry reactions online, particularly because paint was placed around the statue's neck, which supporters interpreted as a reference to the area where Kirk was fatally shot during a campus event in September 2025. Phoenix police are investigating the incident.

Red Paint Found on Neck and Face Three Days After Unveiling

The eight-foot statue was unveiled outside Turning Point USA's Phoenix headquarters on Thursday, 10 September, coinciding with the first anniversary of Kirk's death. Kirk, the co-founder of TPUSA, was killed at the age of 31 during a speaking event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

Just three days later, on Sunday, the statue was discovered covered in red paint, with photographs showing paint across parts of the figure, including around the neck and face. A nearby memorial poster was also vandalised, with the name of Jesus reportedly crossed out.

Phoenix police responded to the scene shortly after 8am on Sunday and said the incident remained under investigation. TPUSA condemned the vandalism, describing it as 'diabolical' and saying the incident happened during the night.

Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect and have appealed for information that could help establish who was responsible.

Supporters Call Vandalism Sickening as Others Question Narrative

The statue's defacement prompted a wave of criticism on social media, particularly from Kirk supporters who interpreted the paint around the statue's neck as a reference to the manner of his death. Many called the incident sickening and disgusting.

'SICKENING,' one wrote with multiple face-with-symbols-over-mouth emojis, suggesting that they were enraged. 'What kind of sick, soulless person does that?'

The same person said they were angry and disgusted and hoped those behind the vandalism would be held accountable. Many commenters described the act as hateful and disrespectful, while others said people could disagree with Kirk's political views without targeting a memorial dedicated to him.

Some questioned whether security cameras had been monitoring the statue, while another group urged authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible. Others rejected speculation about who was responsible and called for authorities to establish the facts of the case.

The competing reactions reflected the broader political divisions that have continued to surround Kirk's legacy. The vandalism has prompted further debate online over the treatment of the memorial and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Charlie Kirk Death Case Remains Ongoing

Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at a TPUSA event at Utah Valley University on 10 September 2025.

Authorities said he was taken to Timpanogos Regional Hospital after being shot and was pronounced dead hours later.

Tyler Robinson, 23, has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and six other charges in connection with Kirk's death.

He could face the death penalty if convicted, and his next court appearance is scheduled for 23 October.

The case remains ongoing, with Robinson accused of killing Kirk. The proceedings continue as prosecutors pursue the charges against him, while Robinson remains entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until he is convicted.
