Dilwale
Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan star in Dilwale Red Chillies Entertainment

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon, who starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan in his 2015 flick Dilwale, has expressed her concerns over piracy in films. The actress exposed a man who was watching a pirate copy of the film, sitting in her row on flight.

Sanon, 25, posted a series of tweets and photos from her flight to Delhi. The photos showed the man enjoying viewing the pirated copy of Rohit Shetty's film. The actress, who made her Bollywood debut in the 2014 film Heropanti, said she felt annoyed by the incident.

"Someone [is] watching pirated version of Dilwale in front of me on phone in the flight! Annoyed!!" she wrote as she posted the photos. In the photos, the man is seen sitting next to Sanon's mother with whom she was travelling.

Responding to a fan's comment that piracy is a criminal offence Sanon said that she had politely asked the person to watch the film in a cinema. However, he did not pay heed to her, said the actress of Dilwale that has received average ratings in reviews.

"[I] told him politely that he would enjoy the film more in a theatre," she said adding that the man "was busy showing off his projector".

The actress put the hashtag – Say No to Piracy – in her posts urging viewers to enjoy watching films in cinemas. She added that she was sad to see the hard work of so many people that goes into the making of a film being watched in "such pathetic quality".

Sanon is one of the few young actors of Bollywood to speak up against piracy in the public. In an exclusive interview to IBTimes UK prior to the release of Dilwale in December, the actress spoke about her working with such established actors as Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol right at the start of her film career.

She told an IBTimes UK correspondent that she was not insecure but a bit nervous "about being not as experienced, not having gone to an acting school, having done just one film and then doing a film like this [Dilwale] where everybody is so talented and such amazing actors."
