Yevhen Konoplyanka
Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka (R) is a transfer target for Tottenham. AS Roma and Liverpool.

FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk star Yevhen Konoplyanka's father has revealed the winger will not join AS Roma in the winter transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur have received a massive encouragement in signing the Ukrainian international on a free transfer after the end of the season as he has less than six months left on his contract.

The north London club were keen on securing the services of Konoplyanka this month. However, the Italian outfit were leading the race to sign the 25-year-old after Dinpro general manager Andriy Stetsenko confirmed they have already placed an offer to sign him this month.

Konoplyanka's father has ruled out any possible move to Italy after admitting that his son will continue with his current employers till the end of this season.

"He wants to stay [at Dnipro] and I think he will very probably remain here until his contract expires," Oleg Konoplyanka told FootballUa.tv.

"He probably won't sign the contract with Roma. What I can say is that Roma would really like him to sign it, but my son wants to stay at Dnipro until June and then leave."

Meanwhile, the player has denied recent rumours suggesting that he will undergo a medical before his proposed move to Roma.

"I know there was talk that there would be a medical soon, but that's not true," Yevhen told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I promised the president that I'd stay at Dnipro until the end of my contract. As I understand it, the two clubs have reached an agreement, but not with me."

"That's why the deal hasn't been completed. I like Roma though, they're a big European club. I'm convinced that in the next few days my future will be decided," the Ukrainian international concluded.

Yevhen will be a free agent in the summer and Tottenham could sign him on a free transfer. Mauricio Pochettino is likely to face competition from the league rivals as the London Evening Standard reports that Liverpool are also in the frame for signing the winger.
