Bethesda kicked off their first ever E3 press conference with Doom 4 (being called just Doom), showing off a first look at gameplay in both single player and multiplayer.

Promising fast gameplay, a wide variety of guns and a lot of violence, the lengthy gameplay demo introduced by id Software executive producer Marty Stratton delivered. It was followed by a look at multiplayer and a second single player demo set in hell.

You can watch the gameplay videos below...

It looks a lot closer to classic Doom than Doom 3 certainly, with the violence amped up with finishing moves reminiscent of Mortal Kombat's devastating fatalities. Limbs are torn off, heads are crushed, bodies are spliced and the crowd naturally went wild.

Doom Snapmap, an extensive feature which will allow players to create and share maps and game modes "regardless of platform", was also announced for the title.

Stratton finished the segment by promising Doom would be released in Spring 2016 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
