Son Says Family Does Not Believe Igho Ubiribo's Penis Filler Procedure Caused His Death in Thailand

Junior Ubiribo has rejected the UK coroner's conclusion that a penile filler procedure caused the death of his father, British-Nigerian businessman and social media influencer Igho 'Tiny' Ubiribo, in Thailand earlier this year.

The 21-year-old said that relatives remain unconvinced by the explanation and believe there are unanswered questions surrounding the March 6 incident in Bangkok.

Family Rejects Coroner's Conclusion on Penis Filler Death

Junior said reading reports that linked the death to the penile filler procedure was painful for the family, adding that his father 'didn't have anything to be ashamed of' and did not have a 'micro penis.' He told the outlet, 'No one in the family believes that the procedure was the cause of his death.'

The comments come after an inquest at Inner West London Coroners' Court heard that a post-mortem examination and toxicology testing found cellular material in Ubiribo's lungs consistent with hyaluronic acid, the substance injected during the procedure. The coroner, Jean Harkin, concluded that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism linked to the hyaluronic-acid injection.

Thai health authorities have said Ubiribo received 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine at a Bangkok clinic on March 5, 2026, a day before he died. The Department of Health Service Support said the doctor recommended splitting the dose into two sessions, but Ubiribo preferred a single injection.

The clinic reportedly told investigators that Ubiribo had been a regular patient since 2024 and had undergone five procedures in total, with the first four taking place between 2024 and 2025 and the fifth on March 5, 2026.

It added that post-operative instructions were provided and the patient did not report problems, and that he signed a consent form before each treatment.

Thai Probe Into Clinic Continues Amid Conflicting Claims

Thailand's Ministry of Public Health has ordered an inspection of the clinic and said it will gather facts before deciding whether to refer the case to the Medical Council of Thailand. Health minister Pattana Phromphat told reporters the aim was 'to ensure fairness for everyone' and to reassure patients about safety standards.

Junior has also questioned other aspects of his father's death, alleging that Ubiribo sustained injuries before or after his death and that some of his belongings were missing. In separate comments, he described his father as having been 'killed' and called for further answers about what happened.

Those allegations have not been independently verified, and no public evidence has established that Ubiribo was the victim of foul play.

The family has also raised concerns about how information surrounding the death was handled. Junior said that relatives were not convinced by the explanation that the procedure caused his father's death and said the family had sought further clarification.

The coroner's inquest, however, concluded that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism linked to the hyaluronic-acid injection.

Ubiribo, 43, was a well-known figure in Nigerian entertainment circles, with more than 180,000 Instagram followers and properties reported in London and Los Angeles. He was buried in London in a golden casket, with attendees including afrobeat star Davido, who described him as 'a man of so much energy, so much presence.'

The case has reignited debate about medical tourism and the regulation of cosmetic procedures abroad, with Thailand a leading destination for visitors from overseas seeking healthcare.

For now, the family's position is clear, they do not believe the penile filler procedure caused the death, even as Thai officials continue their examination of the clinic's records and practices.
