'Figure the S*** Out': Online Critics Slam the Perez Hilton Kids Gofundme as He Sells a $4.25m Mansion

A Perez Hilton GoFundMe supporting his three children and their grandmother has drawn criticism online after launching on 17 September. The reaction intensified as Hilton's Las Vegas mansion remains listed for $3.9 million (£2.92 million) while he continues residential mental health treatment.

Hilton has not returned to his usual online activity since a mental health crisis at his Miami-area home on 4 August. The incident unfolded during a TikTok livestream and was followed by hospital treatment for physical injuries. His family later said he entered a residential programme focused on his recovery.

In an update published on 14 September, Hilton's family said the 48-year-old remained lucid and could communicate clearly with relatives. They also rejected reports that he had suffered memory loss, believed it was 2016 or had asked to see Katy Perry.

Broadway producer Tom D'Angora organised the fundraiser on behalf of Hilton's mother, Teresita Lavandeira. She is currently caring for Hilton's children, Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8.

Lavandeira filed for temporary custody in Miami-Dade County on 7 August following Hilton's hospitalisation. A judge granted her temporary custody on 18 August, while Hilton remained the children's legal parent.

The GoFundMe has a $25,000 (£18,712) target and states that all donations are intended for Lavandeira and the children. The campaign expressly says none of the money will be used for Hilton personally.

'Like any grandmother who suddenly finds herself responsible for raising three growing children, she's also taken on significant and unexpected expenses,' the fundraiser says.

It adds that Lavandeira has put much of her own life on hold to maintain the children's schooling, activities and everyday routines.

D'Angora said watching Hilton and his family go through the crisis had been 'heartbreaking.' He said he hoped his friend could recover and eventually return to a fulfilling life with his family.

Some responses beneath an X post promoting the fundraiser were less sympathetic. Several commenters questioned why members of the public should contribute while Hilton owns a multimillion-dollar property.

One user wrote, 'I took custody of my grandkids and never considered asking for handouts.' The commenter added, 'Figure the s--t out.'

Another said, 'I'm struggling as a single mom trying to keep my utilities on and my kids fed.' The user then questioned why a celebrity's family was seeking donations.

Those comments reflect individual opinions rather than verified information about Hilton's finances. A property's asking price does not establish how much cash Hilton, Lavandeira or the children can readily access.

Perez Hilton Mansion Remains Listed at $3.9 Million

Hilton originally listed his six-bedroom Las Vegas property for $4.25 million (£3.18 million) before the asking price was cut by $350,000 (£261,000).

The home is now listed at $3.9 million. Current property listings give its interior size as approximately 6,569 square feet and describe it as having six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

The property remains unsold, meaning its asking price should not be treated as realised income.

Hilton relocated to Miami in June after serious health problems earlier in the year. He previously said he spent 21 days in hospital with severe sepsis in March and later received treatment for deep vein thrombosis.

He also said moving closer to family was part of the decision to return to Miami.

Reaction to the fundraiser has not been uniformly negative. Supporters have also left well wishes for Hilton, his mother and the children. D'Angora said the campaign was created partly because people had asked how they could help.

As of 22 September, the GoFundMe page displayed $7,690 (£5,755) from 191 donations towards its $25,000 goal. Because the figure can change quickly, it should be checked again immediately before publication.

Hilton's family said on 14 September that he was expected to remain in residential treatment for several more weeks, possibly longer. They said the length of his stay would depend on recommendations from his treatment team.

The family also said Hilton currently has no access to his phone or laptop and has limited contact with relatives and friends. His children remain together under their grandmother's care.
