11-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Quiet English Village After Being Reported Missing as Police Probe 'Unexplained' Death
West Mercia Police have not announced a cause of death, arrest or suspect

An 11-year-old girl was found dead in a village park in Worcestershire just hours after she was reported missing late on Sunday night, as police investigate what they have described as an 'unexplained' death.
The child, who has not been publicly identified by West Mercia Police, was discovered in a park close to the cricket ground in Elmley Castle after her disappearance was reported at approximately 11.20pm on 4 October.
The discovery came only hours after the missing-person report, leaving residents seeking answers. It was reported that the girl's body was located roughly five hours after she was reported missing, although police have not given an exact time when she was found.
Her relatives have been notified and are receiving assistance from specially trained officers, while investigators work to establish what happened.
Girl Found Near Elmley Castle Cricket Ground
The girl was found in a park near the local cricket ground in Elmley Castle, a village in Worcestershire near Pershore. Officers launched an investigation following the discovery and said their immediate task was to establish the circumstances surrounding the child's death.
Police have so far released few details about the events between the missing-person report and the discovery of her body.
West Mercia Police said the death is being treated as 'unexplained' at this stage, as enquiries continue. 'Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding her death, which at this stage is being treated as unexplained,' West Mercia Police said.
No cause of death has been made public, and police have not announced an arrest or identified a suspect. Investigators are continuing to establish what occurred before any conclusions can be reached.
Police Presence Increased as Enquiries Continue
Residents of Elmley Castle have been told to expect an increased police presence while officers continue their work. The force has said enquiries remain ongoing, with officers examining the circumstances surrounding the girl's death. The investigation is being conducted while specialist officers support her family.
Chief Inspector Daniel Pilkington acknowledged the effect the death of such a young child could have on the local community and urged people not to speculate about what may have happened.
'We know the death of a young girl will be deeply upsetting for the local community, and our thoughts remain with her family and friends at this time,' Pilkington said.
'We would also ask people not to speculate about the circumstances surrounding her death. This is an incredibly difficult time for her family, and I would urge everyone to be mindful of the impact that speculation could have on them.'
Police Urge Public Not To Speculate
Elmley Castle is a small Worcestershire community, and the police investigation has brought a heightened presence to the area as officers continue their enquiries.
Reporting from the scene indicated that part of the park was cordoned off, while flowers were left nearby as a tribute to the child. Police remained at the location as investigative work continued.
The circumstances surrounding the girl's disappearance and death remain unclear. At present, police have not announced a cause of death, an arrest or a suspect, and they have not publicly explained why the child was in the park. Those unanswered questions are now at the centre of the investigation as officers work to establish a factual timeline.
