Pop star Lady Gaga has shown that celeb nudity can be arty rather than tacky after unveiling her nude billboard for her fragrance, Fame.

The 25-year-old Paparazzi hitmaker has shared the ad shot by Steven Klein with fans on the Little Monsters social network earlier this week.

In the sultry black and white image, Gaga poses in her birthday suit while strategically placed miniature men cover her modesty.

By channelling the Gulliver's Travels theme, the image looks tasteful and arty rather than tacky.

Ahead of the big reveal, the star told her 27 million Twitter followers: "I won't lie - I'm a bit nervous. It's been a while since I've shared some work with you. But I'm so proud of Steven+I - we really did not sleep."

She has followed in the footsteps of Rihanna, who unveiled her own naked billboard in New York earlier this year.
