Lindsay Lohan has said she has "no regrets" about her past. The former Hollywood wild child reflected on her misspent youth as she prepares to turn 30 on Saturday 2 June.

In her twenties, the Mean Girls actress was frequently making headlines for her outrageous antics and famously courted controversy after a list of her alleged sexual encounters with famous Hollywood names went public. She was estranged from her parents for a period and sued her mother, Dina, for selling her possessions. She later attended rehab for alcohol addiction and documented her journey to recovery and self-realisation in a reality TV series.

In a candid interview with Vanity Fair, she said that on reflection she would have done things differently.

"I wouldn't call things regrets, per se," she explained. "I can't turn back time. But if I could, I would have listened more to my mother and gone back home to NYC earlier in life and chosen my friends more wisely."

Lohan revealed that she is documenting the events of her life in a book in order to inspire others to turn their lives around as she has. "I am in the process of writing a book, and I am very excited to share my personal experiences in life and how to overcome obstacles. I hope that my words will connect with those who need some guidance when [or] if they are in a tough place."

The actress, who came to fame as a child star in The Parent Trap, said she is now looking forward to a more fulfilling future with her fiancée, Egor Tarabasov, who is heir to a Russian billionaire .

She revealed she is planning on "making more films, writing my book, starting my charity, working with children a lot. Maybe having some of my own soon – after I get some movies done, first."

The actress and the 23-year-old met at a party in late 2015 and have been regularly seen together at high profile events in London. In April, this year the pair attended the star-studded Asian Awards.

According to Page Six, Tarabasov is planning to celebrate his fiancée's birthday in style, with a party for friends and family on the Greek island of Mykonos.

Lohan most recently made headlines as she turned political pundit after live-tweeting the results of the EU referendum. Revealing her pro-Remain stance, she tweeted: "Don't let me down in the UK as a loving member of your beautiful country during #hermajestythequeen 's birthday time."
