Liverpool are encouraged in their pursuit of signing Guillermo Ochoa after Ajaccio keeper admitted his interest in joining the Premier League club.

The Metro reports the Mexican international has been a transfer target for the Merseyside club. The Reds have Simon Mignolet and Pepe Reina as the first choice stoppers in the squad. However, the Spaniard is currently on a season-long loan at Napoli.

Reina's future at Anfield is uncertain and Brendan Rodgers could offload the former Valencia man in the summer. Liverpool are in the market for a stopper and have set their sights on signing Ochoa at the end of the season.

"I am evaluating several offers from different countries. I have been in France for three years and I like the way in which this league has evolved, but I would also want to try elsewhere," Ochoa explained.

"At the moment I have no agreements with any team and I am willing to listen to all the proposals to make the best decision possible. My agent is dealing with everything and I do not exclude a future in Italy or England," the 28-year-old added.

Ochoa has been a regular figure for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, making 32 appearances so far in the league. His contract expires at the end of the season and will be available on a free transfer in the coming window.

Meanwhile, the Anfield club could face competition from AC Milan in signing Ochoa. The Serie A outfit are interested in signing the stopper after the player's agent confirmed their interest.

"I believe that he would prefer to continue his career in France, but he has also received an offer from Milan," Jorge Berlenga told Fox.

"I hope that he makes the step up to a big club. He really deserves it. I don't know where he will play next season, though. He does not necessarily have to go to the World Cup to show off his talents."
