Brendan Rodgers is edging towards his third signing of the summer for Liverpool, after the agent of Luis Alberto confirmed the Reds' interest in signing the Sevilla youngster. The Merseyside club have already signed Kolo Toure on a free transfer from Manchester City and landed Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas for a reported £7.6m.

"The reports about Liverpool's interest are true, they are very interested. There have been talks, and if a good offer comes a deal will be found," Alberto's agent, Enrique Rosado, said.

The 20-year-old Spaniard spent last season on loan with the Barcelona B team and scored 11 goals to impress the Catalans, who have also expressed an interest in the forward. Rodgers is keen on strengthening the Reds' squad for the new season and has urged to club to finish business in the transfer window as early as possible, to avoid last summer's mistake.

Meanwhile, Alberto is calm over the recent reports linking him with a move to England. The Spaniard earlier admitted he was unsure of his future at Sevilla.

"Nothing is decided. All I know now is that I'm player of Sevilla. I cannot say anything more as I don't know and that is the truth. At the moment I am calm and thinking about my holidays," Alberto told Sky Sports.

Iago Aspas Not Suarez Replacement

Meanwhile, Liverpool's latest addition insisted he was not a replacement for talismanic striker Luis Suarez, who has expressed his desire to move away from Anfield in the summer.

"Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and I am going there to take an important step in my career, not to be a replacement for anyone. I think it is time for me to take the next step in my career and Liverpool can help me do that. I have confidence in my ability to move forward and to grow as a player," Aspas explained.

"I described the move as emotional for me because it is such a big club and it means I've reached another level. But I am calm because I feel I am ready," he added.
