Mike Tyson's Claim He Caught Brad Pitt in Bed with Ex-Wife Robin Givens Resurfaces as New Documentary Debuts
The Netflix documentary revisits Tyson's troubled past, while an old and disputed account involving his first wife and Pitt returns to public attention.

Mike Tyson's complicated personal life is back in the spotlight following the release of Netflix's new documentary Tyson, bringing renewed attention to some of the former heavyweight champion's most controversial stories.
One of those stories involves Hollywood star Brad Pitt and Tyson's first wife, actress Robin Givens. Years ago, the boxer claimed he had caught the pair in bed together during the breakdown of his marriage.
Although the four-part Netflix documentary does not explicitly revisit the alleged incident involving Pitt, Tyson's previous account remains a memorable part of public discussion surrounding his relationship with Givens.
However, the actress has disputed the boxer's version of events, insisting that the encounter happened under very different circumstances.
How Mike Tyson Claims He Encountered Brad Pitt
Tyson married Givens in February 1988, when his boxing career was at its peak. Their relationship quickly became troubled, with Givens publicly accusing him of domestic abuse.
The marriage ended in 1989, but Tyson later claimed that he continued visiting his estranged wife while they were separating. In his memoir Undisputed Truth and previous interviews, the former champion recalled unexpectedly encountering Pitt during one of those visits.
According to Tyson, the actor appeared terrified when he realised who was there. 'You had to see the look on his face,' Tyson said. 'He looked like he was ready to receive his last rites.'
Tyson also alleged that Pitt pleaded with him not to become violent, recalling the actor saying: 'Dude, don't hit me, don't hit me.'
The boxer further described Pitt as appearing 'stoned out of his gourd'.
His account has circulated for years, particularly because Pitt was not yet the international superstar he would later become. Nevertheless, Tyson's description of finding Pitt in an intimate situation with Givens has never been established as fact.
Robin Givens Denies Tyson's Bedroom Claim
Givens has acknowledged that Tyson encountered her with Pitt, but she has firmly rejected the suggestion that the boxer caught them in bed. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the actress addressed the longstanding story and disputed its most sensational detail.
'That never happened,' she said.
Instead, Givens explained that she and Pitt were returning from a screening and were together in a car when Tyson saw them. Her account therefore differs significantly from Tyson's recollection.
While both have described an encounter involving Pitt, the circumstances remain disputed, with Givens denying the bedroom allegation.
Netflix's New Documentary Revisits Tyson's Troubled Past
The story has returned to relevance as Netflix releases Tyson, a four-part documentary directed by Floyd Russ, on 13 October 2026.
The series examines Tyson's difficult childhood in Brooklyn, his rise to become the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history and the personal controversies that followed his success.
His marriage to Givens is among the subjects explored, alongside his rape conviction, struggles with addiction and other painful chapters of his life.
However, the documentary does not explicitly address Tyson's alleged confrontation with Pitt. The story comes from the boxer's earlier memoir and interviews, rather than a new revelation in the Netflix series.
As viewers revisit Tyson's history, the decades-old anecdote remains one of the more unusual claims associated with his first marriage, although Givens continues to offer a very different account of what happened.
