The F1 juggernaut arrived in Monaco for the most glamourous race of the season. But rain played spoilsport during the second practice session keeping drivers inside their garages and the beautiful people inside their yachts and hotels.

It looks to be yet another race that will be contested by the Mercedes drivers, leaving the rest of the pack to battle for the third podium spot, but this is Monaco, where anything is possible. With the barriers being so close to the track, a single mistake can cost you the race, making it interesting for fans.

It is also hard to overtake on this track, meaning a good start from either the Ferrari's or the Williams could spoil the party for the Silver Arrows team.

Where to watch live

The third free practice session begins on 9 May at 10am BST, while the qualifying session starts at 1pm BST. Sky Sports F1 and Sky Sports F1 HD will provide live coverage of both events in the UK.

Real-time internet updates are available on the Live Timing section of the sport's official website.

Practice review

It was the Mercedes duo yet again, who dominated the second practice session (FP2), but rains after half an hour cut the session short and most drivers spent the rest of the hour in their garages, as it did not make sense driving in the rain and risking an accident.

Even gathering data would have been useless as the track conditions will be different with no rains predicted for qualifying on Saturday. This will mean that drivers will focus on long runs as well as qualifying set up in the short FP3 session on Saturday morning.

The Ferrari's were the best of the rest yet again, with Sebastian Vettel outpacing teammate Kimi Raikkonen as their battle for the final podium place continues.

The surprise of the day was Toro Rosso of Max Verstappen, who finished FP1 in second place, a tenth of a second behind championship leader Lewis Hamilton.

The Red Bull's also looked strong on the Monaco circuit, with Daniil Kvyat just behind the Ferrari's in fifth. That has given hope to Daniel Ricciardo to out qualify the Williams' and challenge the Ferrari duo this weekend.
