Warning: Spoilers Ahead

Episode 1 will also find Gibbs's team investigating a car explosion, which will eventually lead them to Agent Nick Torres (played by Wilmer Valderrama) who disappeared six months ago while on an undercover mission.

Also, Gibbs will eventually ask Alex Quinn (played by Jennifer Esposito) to fill in Tony's position, after rejecting several candidates.

The official synopsis released for NCIS season 14 episode 1 reads as follows:

Gibbs' team investigates a car explosion that connects to NCIS Special Agent Nick Torres (new cast member Wilmer Valderrama), who disappeared six months ago while undercover; Gibbs asks NCIS Special Agent Alex Quinn (Blue Bloods' Jennifer Esposito) to shadow his team after rejecting eight agents she referred for DiNozzo's vacated position. Duane Henry joins the cast as MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves.

Weatherly called it quits after playing special agent Tony DiNozzo in the CBS series for 13 years. The NCIS agent left Gibbs's team to raise his daughter, Tiva, in an emotional finale episode titled, Family First, which aired on 17 May on the CBS network.

Showrunner Gary Glasberg previously spoke to Deadline about moving forward without Weatherly in season 14. He said, "Michael is and was a huge part of our family behind the scenes but everybody wishes him well with this huge opportunity he has. And we welcome some new people and the great guests that we'll continue to have. We'll show up for work come July and start all over again."

NCIS returns with season 14 on 20 September at 8pm ET/PT on CBS Network.
