One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson confirms birth of son

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has confirmed he has become a father. Following weeks of speculation, the singer has announced on Twitter that his ex-girlfriend Briana Jungwirth Jungwirth gave birth to a baby boy.

"He is healthy and pretty amazing. I'm very happy," he wrote on Twitter.

Harry Styles congratulated his pal by tweeting: "Flowers all round."

There were rumours Jungwirth had already given birth after her grandmother wrote on Instagram: "Louis just let Ur heart dance. U now have another you. A gift that will want to be just like YOU. Love him & my young grandchild that gave him to you. LET her know she's special."

It first came to everyone's attention he was going to be a father during an awkward interview on Good Morning America last year. "Obviously, it's a really exciting time, so I'm buzzing, thank you."

Tomlinson had a fling with US stylist Jungwirth in May after separating with long-time girlfriend Eleanor Calder. Although they are no longer an item, Jungwirth and Tomlinson intend to co-parent the child.
