Here's the official synopsis for Orphan Black season 3:

The groundbreaking series' second season brought new enemies to light, culminating in a shocking finale which revealed a new line of militaristic male clones, played by Ari Millen. Season three plunges the clone sisterhood, Project Leda, into unexpected territory with the realization that they're not alone.

Series creator and executive producer John Fawcett hinted, in earlier interviews, that one of the female clones might die this third season. "The name he mentioned as a subject of concern is Cosima (Tatiana Maslany) - the bisexual graduate student studying evolutionary developmental biology," states Franchise Herald.

However, in his latest interview with Entertainment Weekly, Fawcett laid those rumours to rest and explained that even though Cosima will go through a pretty intense phase, she will be pretty much around in season 3.

"The interesting thing about Cosima is she came very close to dying and that wasn't something that we took lightly," said Fawcett.

"[It] wasn't something that we did to try and scare the audience. That really was the beginning of a new journey for Cosima in season 3. The fact that she has come that close to death, that she essentially had a near-death experience, changes her because she can't explain what happened to her. It puts this character, who is so entrenched in the science, in this place where she's now looking for answers beyond science."

Orphan Black season 3 premieres Saturday, 18 April, 9pm ET on BBC America.
