Pretty Little Liars season 6 ended with Hanna getting kidnapped Freeform

Pretty Little Liars season 7 revealed a fierce and mysterious poster today in parts on its official Instagram account. Dressed in all black, the Freeform series' girls looked sensuous and ready for some action in the upcoming season's first look. However, one important character seemed to be missing from the scene: Hanna Marin played by Ashley Benson.

The official poster for season 7 featuring the core characters minus one — Alison DiLaurentis, Aria Montogomery, Spencer Hastings and Emily Fields — shows the girls standing in a police line-up and staring into the camera like complete bada**.

Instead of shabby prison clothes, the gang is rocking their usual high-on-fashion ensembles that specially include sheer tops, high slits, black jackets, sky-high stilettos and a gothic look.

Interestingly, the PLL promotional art work is accompanied by the tagline: "How far will they go to #SaveHanna?", dropping considerable clues to the tragic events of the last season.

Season 6 finale ended with Hanna getting kidnapped and her fate resting in the hands of Uber A. While fans freaked out over the tragedy that befell Hanna, showrunner Marlene King assured that Benson "loved" the cliffhanger ending.

"They all want to be dragged through the mud, they all love that stuff. They're not big on happy endings, those Liars," she added.

So, does Hanna make it out alive? The synopsis for the season 7 premiere titled Tick-Tock Bitches doesn't look bright for the liars either, as they race against time to save their friend. It seems the all new season will pose greater threats to the girls as they make devastating decisions to save Hanna from her tormentor. In the process, the gang may cross some "blatant lines", from where there is no turning back. Will their lives be the same again?

With such questions left behind after the unveiling of the season 7 poster, the response from Lucy Hale, who plays Aria, only teases the fate of the liars. "Something pretty huge happens for the girls in season 7 that essentially destroys their lives if they don't cover it up well enough," she said during a recent interview.

Pretty Little Liars returns to Freeform on 21 June (Tuesday) at 8 pm EST.
