Former Prince Andrew Reportedly Jetting Around Europe as Claims Emerge of Secret Norfolk Girlfriend

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is reportedly travelling across Europe and may be looking for property in the south of France, according to claims from royal biographer Andrew Lownie.

The allegations emerge as the 66-year-old lives at Marsh Farm on the King's Sandringham estate while under investigation for misconduct in public office, yet appears to retain his passport and a degree of freedom that contrasts with the public narrative of royal exile.

To recall, Andrew was arrested on 19 February 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office and later released under investigation.

The inquiry centres on allegations that he shared confidential government information with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while serving as the UK's trade envoy. Andrew has denied wrongdoing.

Buckingham Palace announced in October 2025 that the formal process to remove his titles and honours had begun, and Letters Patent dated 3 November formally removed his entitlement to the style 'Royal Highness' and the titular dignity of 'Prince.'

He subsequently vacated Royal Lodge and relocated to the King's Sandringham Estate in February 2026, with Marsh Farm identified as his new home.

Andrew's European Trips and Norfolk Girlfriend Claims

Lownie, author of the biography Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, said that Andrew has travelled abroad, including to France, and has previously speculated about possible trips to other destinations. 'He still thinks he's a hotshot businessman,' Lownie said.

'The papers have actually covered him going to Brittany. I'd heard that he'd gone to the south of France and was actually looking to buy property there which doesn't suggest that he's worried about going to prison.'

Lownie also claimed Andrew was seen in the Cannes and Nice areas with two unidentified women. There is no evidence that either woman is romantically involved with him. Separately, unnamed sources have claimed that Andrew has been seeing a local woman in Norfolk. The claim has not been independently verified.

Despite the restrictions on his public role, recent reports indicate that Andrew has retained his passport. Lownie has claimed that he continues to travel abroad and was recently seen around Cannes and Nice.

However, the precise conditions of his release under investigation have not been publicly detailed, so his ability to travel should not be characterised more broadly than the available evidence supports.

Lownie argued that travelling from Sandringham would be straightforward. 'He's got his passport still. He can nip out the back door at Marsh Farm and be driven to the local airport and stuck on a private jet,' he said. 'So I don't think we should feel too sorry for him.'

Lownie has argued that the royal family's public distancing of Andrew is largely for public consumption. 'It suits the purposes of the royal family to suggest that he's under house arrest, that they're giving him a hard time, they're distancing themselves because of the reputational damage,' he said. 'But I think behind the scenes, it's still a pretty cozy relationship.'
