Sarah Ferguson Reportedly Had 'No Plans to Write Any Tell All Memoir' Despite Seven-Figure Offers

Sarah Ferguson has no plans to write a tell-all memoir about the Royal Family, her spokesperson confirmed, after reports claimed she was close to signing a seven-figure autobiography deal.

The 66-year-old former Duchess of York is not close to agreeing a multi-million-dollar publishing contract, her representative said, denying speculation that she intended to write about her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, King Charles, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Jeffrey Epstein.

The rumours emerged as Earl Spencer's memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, prompted renewed scrutiny of the Royal Family. The book, published on 22 September 2026, contains Spencer's recollections and allegations concerning King Charles's relationship with his late former wife, Diana, Princess of Wales.

Sarah Ferguson Memoir Denial Comes Amid Renewed Royal Scrutiny

Sources claimed, that Ferguson was 'days away' from signing a seven-figure deal for a memoir. The report claimed the book could address her relationship with Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, her association with Jeffrey Epstein and her views on King Charles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The report also claimed Ferguson wanted to 'set the record straight' and earn money amid financial pressures. Those claims have not been independently confirmed.

A spokesperson for Ferguson subsequently rejected the reports. The representative said that Ferguson was not close to signing a multi-million-dollar deal and had no plans to write a tell-all memoir.

A separate statement reported by People said there had been 'no discussions' about a book deal and that Ferguson was not writing a personal memoir.

The speculation comes amid renewed scrutiny of Ferguson's past association with Jeffrey Epstein following the release of documents by the US Department of Justice. The DOJ maintains an online Epstein Library containing records released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act and other disclosures.

Documents released by the DOJ have included correspondence between Ferguson and Epstein. The Independent reported that emails showed Ferguson describing Epstein as 'the brother I have always wished for' and seeking £20,000 to cover rent.

Other correspondence indicated that she sought Epstein's advice concerning Mother's Army, a business project she was developing.

The correspondence does not, by itself, establish criminal wrongdoing by Ferguson.

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, Ferguson's former husband, has faced separate scrutiny over his connections to Epstein. Buckingham Palace announced in October 2025 that the formal process to remove Andrew's style, titles and honours had begun, and said he would be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

Andrew was later arrested and released under investigation in February 2026 over alleged misconduct in public office. He denies wrongdoing.

Earl Spencer's Memoir and the Wider Royal Publishing Story

Ferguson's denied memoir plans also come as Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer and brother of Diana, Princess of Wales, faces scrutiny over claims in Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. Penguin lists the book's publication date as 22 September 2026.

Among the claims, Spencer alleges that then-Prince Charles told him after Diana's death in 1997: 'rest assured, we'll forget her soon enough.' Buckingham Palace responded that grief can affect memory and judgment, while Spencer has maintained his account.

Spencer has also faced a dispute with broadcaster Piers Morgan over claims concerning photographs of Diana. Spencer initially suggested Morgan was responsible for the publication of photographs taken at a gym in 1993.

Morgan disputed the claim, pointing out that he was working for The Sun at the time and did not become editor of the Daily Mirror until 1995.

Spencer subsequently apologised for the incorrect assumption, saying accuracy was important to him. Morgan has nevertheless said he intends to pursue legal action against Spencer and Penguin Random House.

Against that backdrop, reports of a potential Ferguson memoir attracted attention. However, Ferguson's spokesperson has now expressly denied that she is negotiating a publishing deal or preparing a personal memoir.

For now, the reported book deal remains unsubstantiated, while Ferguson's representative has publicly stated that she has no plans to write the memoir described in the reports.
