Super Mario Galaxy Movie Cast Revealed — Every Character and Who Plays Them
Every character in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie and actors giving them life

Nintendo has officially lifted the lid on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, unveiling a brand-new trailer during a surprise Nintendo Direct that confirmed a raft of returning favourites and some very deep-cut character appearances.
Hosted by Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, the presentation offered fans their most substantial look yet at the sequel's expanded cast, even if one key mystery remains firmly under wraps.
The trailer opens with Mario and Luigi racing motorbikes across a desert landscape before arriving at the inverted pyramid of the Sand Kingdom, a location instantly recognisable to players of Super Mario Odyssey.
Tasked with clearing a blocked Warp Pipe, the brothers power up with Fire Flowers and descend underground, accompanied by Mario's iconic theme. What they find inside the pipe, however, is not an enemy, but Yoshi.
Yoshi, Birdo, Mouser And Lakitu Enter The Spotlight
The reveal of Yoshi is the centrepiece of the trailer. Initially timid and clearly wary of Mario and Luigi, the green dinosaur is quickly established as part of the team in later shots.
His appearance follows directly from the post-credits tease in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which showed a Yoshi egg beginning to hatch. Fans also get their first hint at how Yoshi will sound, with the character mumbling words and calling out his own name, though Nintendo has not confirmed who is providing the voice.
One of the most surprising reveals during the Nintendo Direct comes with the confirmation of Birdo and Mouser. Birdo is shown furiously firing eggs at Peach, who deflects the attack with her parasol.
Mouser, a boss character from Super Mario Bros. 2, appears briefly alongside Birdo, a pairing that makes sense given both characters originated in the dream world of Subcon. The implication is that Peach may have her own side quest early in the film, separate from Mario and Luigi's Sand Kingdom adventure.
Lakitu also makes his big-screen debut, hurling projectiles at Mario, Luigi and Yoshi from the sky. The inclusion of such characters supports earlier comments from the production team that the sequel would feature 'really deep cuts' from Nintendo's catalogue.
Baby Mario, Baby Luigi And Galaxy-Scale Chaos
The trailer's closing moments take a surreal turn, showing Yoshi clutching a weapon resembling the SNES Super Scope while Toad holds Baby Mario and Baby Luigi.
The group faces off against a towering T-Rex that looks lifted straight from Super Mario Odyssey, prompting speculation that the scene could be a flashback to the brothers' childhoods.
Nintendo also confirmed that animation on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is now complete, with Illumination boss Chris Meledandri revealing the project has entered post-production. Music from the Super Mario Galaxy games is being re-recorded using a 70-piece orchestra, underscoring the film's cinematic ambitions.
Despite the wealth of new footage, no additional voice actors were announced. The core cast from the first film all return, while previously revealed newcomers Rosalina and Bowser Jr. sit this trailer out entirely. Nintendo has also declined to confirm who will voice Yoshi, keeping one of the sequel's biggest questions unanswered. For now, this is the confirmed cast:
- Chris Pratt as Mario
- Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach
- Charlie Day as Luigi
- Jack Black as Bowser
- Keegan-Michael Key as Toad
- Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek
- Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr.
- Brie Larson as Rosalina
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is now set to release in cinemas on 1 April, two days earlier than originally announced, aligning with international release schedules.
