The Naval Forces Central Command has confirmed that a US Navy helicopter has crashed in an overland training flight in the Gulf state of Kuwait.

The training mission saw the MH-60S helicopter downed at Camp Buehring in Kuwait and the cause of the incident will be investigated.

It is not believed that hostile activity is responsible for the crash, the navy confirmed.

"All six personnel aboard the helicopter survived the crash and were transported to nearby medical facilities for evaluation. Three of the six crew members sustained minor injuries and received treatment. All have been released," the navy said in a statement.

Kuwait hosts a military base for the United States and approximately 15,000 American military personnel as a strategic point to fight the Islamic State [IS] terror group in Syria and Iraq.
