Taser
Police fired taser at Matthew Williams who was "eating woman's face" in horrific attack

Horrified police officers tasered a 'cannibal' to death after discovering him eating a woman's face in a hotel room.

Matthew Williams, 34, gouged out one of the victim's eye and chewed her face during the sickening assault at a bail hostel in South Wales, say reports.

Police officers shot the violent attacker - who had only recently been released from prison – when they burst in upon him as he attacked the 22-year-old woman.

Williams was arrested at the scene in Argoed village but died almost immediately afterwards. The woman also died from her injuries.

A resident told the Mirror of the bloody mayhem which confronted officers.

"He went Hannibal Lecter on the woman, he gouged her eyeball out, ate them and ate and half her face," said Lyn Beasley.

Further unconfirmed reports suggested Williams was high on drugs when he turned 'Hannibal Lector' on the woman.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 1.23am after a reported that a man was attacking a woman in the Sirhowy Arms Hotel.

"A Taser was discharged and a man was arrested. The woman was located with injuries and has since been pronounced deceased.

"While under arrest, the man became unresponsive. Officers and paramedics administered first aid but he has since been pronounced deceased."

An investigation in to the death has been launched by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
