Meredith and Nathan Riggs' relationship will create friction between her and sister Maggie ABC

Apart from the challenging medical cases at the Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, the doctors are dealing with their complicated relationships in Grey's Anatomy season 13. Meredith and Nathan Riggs are yet to open up about their relationship to Maggie. On the other hand, Arizona will be caught between Andrew and Alex's fight.

Arizona will make her first appearance in season 13. She was heartbroken after her divorce from Callie. In the separation process, she also lost her daughter to her spouse. But from the promo of the third episode, it appears she has moved on.

"She gets to sort of ride the middle. There's an understanding that she might be able to both be upset at Alex and sad for Andrew," Jessica Capshaw told TV Line.

He also teased that her character will be the moral support Alex need at the time of crisis. "Arizona has been closest to Alex. So I was kind of wondering if Alex would [reach out] to her. We find out in the episode that she heard what happened [while in NY], but she has no idea just how bad it is [until] she returns to work. And, when she sees just how bad it is, it really fires her up. And it worries her. Because anyone who can do something like that needs some help. Needs some assistance," Capshaw added.

The official synopsis of episode 3 of the hit ABC medical drama reads:

I Ain't No Miracle Worker" - A car crash at a funeral brings a bickering family into the hospital. Back from New York, Arizona ends up caught between Alex and Andrew. While Ben takes on a new parenting role, Amelia helps Meredith and Maggie through a problem.

The episode promo also reveals that Meredith is beginning to accept that she is slowly falling for Riggs. Actress Ellen Pompeo has previously teased that a love triangle is in the offing for fans.

Grey's Anatomy season 13 airs on Thursdays at 8/7 pm CT on ABC.
