Honey G final

Honey G dominated the X Factor Final alongside Louis Tomlinson on Saturday (10 December) by unexpectedly performing her debut single, The Honey G Show, despite having been voted off the show a fortnight ago.

The 36-year-old rapper, real name Anna Gilford, has defined this year's series - rising from dismissed novelty act to one of its most-talked about contestants.

Controversy has followed the self-styled "real deal" of rap at every turn, from being branded "an actress", to facing accusations of cultural appropriation and admitting a past battle with class A drug addiction.

The ride appeared to be over when the former recruitment manager lost the public vote in favour of 5 After Midnight two weeks ago, but viewers were shocked to see the star return as a special guest to preview her debut single, The Honey G Show, and confirm a record deal had been signed.

Levitating down to the stage on a platform, the star teased a medley of the covers previously performed as a contestant, including Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby, Will Smith's Men In Black, and Kris Kross' Jump, before jumping into her first solo material.

The Honey G Show features all the favourite elements that make the rap artist so memorable, including the catchy "H to the O to the N to the E to the Y to the G, it's Honey G" chorus and "When I say honey you say G! Honey! G! Honey G!" catchphrase.

Bookmakers now believe the track could propel Honey G to the top of the charts.

Exclusive odds revealed to IBTimes UK by Paddy Power put the track at 20/1 to go to number one, and 40/1 to grab the Christmas top spot.

A spokesperson said: "This new single could make the X Factor sensation number one-y G."

Dressed in her trademark tracksuit, and sporting baseball cap and sunglasses, which now feature 'Honey G' scrolling across the lenses, the star appeared confident when interviewed by Dermot O'Leary:

"I just want to plug my single that's coming out on 23rd December called the Honey G show.

"Everyone who's locking in we're going to rip it up, tear it up. This is the official Honey G takeover".
