Xperia M4 Aqua and M5 get Marshmallow

Sony is finally seeding Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for its mid-range Xperia M4 Aqua smartphone that was released with Lollipop firmware on board in May last year. Alongside the standard model, the dual-SIM variant is also getting the update.

The update has made the phone quite faster when compared to Lollipop. It also bundles April security patch along with it. Unfortunately, the adoptable storage feature is still not included, so the only way you are left with is to transfer your data to the micro SD card.

According to folks over XDA, the new firmware incorporates Double-tap to sleep feature that Sony introduced in concept Marshmallow update earlier in March. After the feature is enabled in the settings, all you have to do is double-tap on an empty space on the home screen to put the phone to sleep. Apart from these, you should be able to experience all other Marshmallow goodies on your Xperia phone now. They include more control over the app by granting permission, Now on Tap feature, Do not disturb mode, new battery management feature called Doze mode. You should also get Sony's new intuitive camera interface, earlier available on Xperia Z5 model only.

According to Xperiablog, which first reported release, Marshmallow update with firmware version 30.2.A.0.100 is also available for Xperia M5 handsets. If you have received a notification about the update on your M4 Aqua or M5 go to Settings>> About phone>> Software update. If the update is available just tap Download and once it is complete tap Install and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
