Sony is rolling out a new firmware update for its Xperia line-up - Xperia Z3+ and Z4 Tablet.

So far, the Xperia Z3+ bearing model number E6553 has seen two firmware build versions, 28.0.A.7.24 and 28.0.A.7.27. The second version is meant for the UK, although the smartphone is yet to hit stores across the country.

Most retailers such as Carphone Warehouse, Clove, Expansys, Handtec and Unlocked Mobiles in the country have kicked off the pre-ordering process for the smartphone recently. The unlocked and SIM-free model can be pre-ordered with a suggested retail price of around £500, whereas the on-contract price from carriers such as O2, Vodafone and EE starts at £40.

The update with build 28.0.A.7.24 is now live for Xperia Z3+ owners in Hong Kong and Taiwan, where the phone is already available for purchase. The same build is making its way through regions including India, Singapore, Netherlands, Russia, Vietnam and Turkey.

The aforementioned build is also available for Z3+ Dual in Ukraine and Xperia Z4 Tablet LTE edition (SGP771) in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

It is unclear whether the current update is aimed at fixing the overheat issue the Xperia Z3+/Xperia Z4 smartphones have been experiencing.
