A police investigation is under way after the bodies of an adult and three children were found in a woodland area in Shropshire.

West Mercia Police found the bodies in the Pontesbury area of Shropshire. They said the bodies are those of missing father Ceri Fuller, 35, and his three children Sam, 12, Becka, 10, and Charlotte, six.

The discovery follows an appeal by Gloucestershire Police over the weekend to trace Mr Fuller and his three children after they were reported missing from their home in the Forest of Dean.

The bodies were found after his red Land Rover Freelander was discovered near Pontesbury. Police launched an immediate search of the area.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: "Officers searching for missing man Ceri Fuller and his three children, from the Forest of Dean, have been made aware of the discovery of four bodies in Pontesbury, Shropshire, shortly before 10am this morning.

"While the bodies have yet to be formally identified, Mr Fuller's family have been informed of the discovery and are being supported by police family liaison officers.

"The investigation into the deaths is being conducted by West Mercia Police."

The area has been sealed off for forensic examinations.

A police spokesman said: "The bodies were found in a wooded area by a police officer."
