Erika Kirk
WIKICOMMONS

Candace Owens is not yet done with Erika Kirk amid their public dispute following the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. The conservative commentator has made public claims against Erika regarding her husband's death, and now she's going after Charlie's widow for calling herself the 'sole provider' of their family.

Apparently, Owens disagreed with Erika's perspective... whether certain terms inadvertently diminish the contributions of those who have passed away.

'She Is Septic'

In the seventh episode of Candace Owen's Bride of Charlie documentary titled 'Crazy In Love,' she challenged Erika Kirk for her use of the term 'sole provider' in relation to her children. Owens argued that using such language is inherently misleading and serves to erase the massive financial and personal foundations Charlie Kirk built for their family.

In a recent event, Erika shared how people branded her as a 'stay-at-home mum' and told her what she should do with her life. 'Now I have to be the sole provider for my children. And again, this is not a business card opportunity,' Erika said.

According to Owens, the phrase suggests that the surviving parent is now the only reason for the family's stability. She insisted that this framing 'discounts who Charlie was' and the significant resources he secured for his family's future before his death.

'Erica is completely full of it. I mean, she is septic at this point,' Owens said.

The 'Blackout: How Black America Can Make Its Second Escape from the Democrat Plantation' author claimed Erika was lying and admitted she was frustrated that Charlie's widow called herself a sole provider.

'It frustrates me because it, what it truly does is it discounts who Charlie was, how genius he was, how financially savvy he was,' Owens said of Erika. 'Like she's trying to relate. Like she's just like a single mom and, and try and work in a nine-to-five, uh, working at a restaurant, trying to make ends meet for her children and the father's gone.'

According to Owens, Charlie had insurance policies to provide his family with coverage in the event he was gone. She claimed that Erika 'was set to receive approximately £7.9 million ($10 million) for his work policy.' Owens also claimed that Charlie invested in real estate, set up a trust for their children, and held life insurance policies, leaving Erika financially secure.

'She also wants us to forget that parking aside, Charlie, let's actually pretend, pretend that Charlie was financially irresponsible and just, you know, was able to run this massive business, but somehow never thought about his kids or his legacy,' Owens continued.

Owens maintained that because Charlie provided so extensively, Erika is not a 'sole provider' in the traditional sense of a struggling single parent. She suggested that the narrative being presented is a strategic attempt to garner sympathy rather than a reflection of their actual financial reality.

Netizens Defend Erika Kirk

Owens' commentary did not go unchallenged, as social media users quickly flooded Facebook and X to support Erika. Many users argued that the term 'sole provider' encompasses far more than just a bank account balance.

Nicole Swietanski noted that when a parent dies, the remaining parent is, by definition, the sole provider. Similarly, Kelly Quinn remarked that while Erika might be financially set, she is still 'in it alone', suggesting the term carries deeper emotional weight.

Other critics accused Owens of being 'spiteful' and 'dishonest' in her interpretation of Erika's words. They argued that acknowledging one's current role as the only active parent does not equate to a betrayal of the deceased spouse's memory.

'Let's hope you don't lose your husband and have to find out what she means. Being a sole provider means more than financially. No matter how much help you have, in ways you still feel alone. I know because I was a widow,' Amy Beth commented on Facebook.

Candace Owens vs Erika Kirk

The tension between Candace Owens and Erika Kirk is not new, as Owens has been documenting their friction since Charlie's death. She has consistently questioned Erika's public conduct in the period following her husband's passing.

In December, Erika announced on X (formerly Twitter) that she was set to meet Owens for an 'in-person discussion' and she was looking forward to a 'productive conversation.' However, it appeared that they had not settled the issue as Owens continues to publicly criticise Erika.

Owens has framed her criticism as a defence of her late friend, Charlie, whose legacy she feels is being mismanaged. However, this aggressive stance against Erika has divided followers, with many questioning why she is focusing her energy on a grieving widow.
