Megyn Kelly has said her friendship with Candace Owens has only grown stronger in recent months, even as the two women hold differing views on the controversy surrounding Erika Kirk, widow of the late Charlie Kirk.

Last year, Kelly's name was drawn into the dispute between Owens and Kirk after the broadcaster helped facilitate a meeting between the two. Earlier this week, her name resurfaced after reports suggested she had helped produce a trailer for Owens' new project, Bride of Charlie. Kelly denied any involvement with the programme and pushed back against public pressure to condemn Owens outright.

Are Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens Still Friends?

Kelly was clear that the controversy had not weakened her bond with Owens. She said she does not support the conspiracy theories Owens has been circulating, including allegations that Kirk may have been involved in her husband's death, but distinguished between disagreeing with a friend and publicly attacking her.

'I love Erika Kirk, I love her. I feel protective of her because she's in a very vulnerable state right now. I don't like to see her get attacked. I wish that would stop. To be honest, I wish Candace wouldn't be pursuing the Turning Point narrative at all,' she said.

Kelly noted that Owens has not directly accused Kirk of involvement in her husband's death but has criticised the widow and her media appearances. She also made clear she has no patience for those hoping the two friends will turn on each other publicly. 'She and I have, actually, only gotten closer over the past couple of months as people try to make me attack her, so f*** off, OK?' Kelly said.

Alleged Smear Campaign Against Owens

Separately, allegations have emerged that influencers were paid by Kirk's camp to spread negative content about Owens. An X user shared a screenshot of what was described as a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) email with the subject line 'Shut Down Candace Owen's Latest Smear - Action Needed TONIGHT,' which appeared to contain talking points instructing influencers to describe Owens as 'demonic' and 'evil.'

The email also urged recipients to suppress the Bride of Charlie trailer before its first episode aired. 'This coordinated push worked against her before — it can bury the trailer before episode 1 even drops. Don't let the "discernment" crowd spin this as brave truth-telling,' the message read.

However, the legitimacy of the email is being questioned by netizens. Some X users are wondering where and how it was obtained by the person who uploaded it. After all, there is no proof that it came from TPUSA since the email thread doesn't clearly show this information.
