Erika Kirk's 'Deleted Signal' Claim Explodes After Andrew Wilson Uses Charlie Kirk Message in Candace Debate

The mystery surrounding messages reportedly sent by Charlie Kirk before his death has erupted again after Andrew Wilson produced one during his debate with Candace Owens, prompting fresh questions over Erika Kirk's previous explanation that the messages were on Signal and had been deleted.

The dispute has now turned the focus away from the contents of the message itself and towards the far more explosive question of who had access to it, when they had it and why it was not released earlier.

Andrew Wilson Suddenly Produced the Message

The controversy centres on a message reportedly showing Charlie Kirk expressing fears about being killed before his death. During his opening statement in the debate with Owens, Wilson presented the message while arguing over competing claims surrounding Kirk's concerns and the circumstances leading up to his death.

Owens seized on the moment because she had previously discussed messages that she said showed Kirk was fearful for his safety. According to her account, she had repeatedly faced denials before information relating to the messages eventually surfaced.

The appearance of the message in Wilson's hands therefore raised an immediate question for Owens and Smith. Smith argued that the message could have been released directly through Turning Point USA or the Charlie Kirk Show rather than being handed to Wilson for use against Owens.

Erika Kirk's Signal Explanation Comes Under Fire

Owens claimed that after Kirk publicly rejected her earlier claims, the two later spoke privately. According to Owens, Kirk then acknowledged that the messages existed but allegedly said she had not seen them because they were contained in a Signal conversation used by Kirk's security team.

Owens further claimed that she was told the Signal messages were automatically wiped. She presented two possible scenarios. If the messages were actually iMessages, as she maintains, she argues that would contradict the explanation she attributes to Kirk.

If they were Signal messages that were automatically deleted, Owens argues there is still a major question over how Wilson obtained them later.

The claims have not independently established exactly how Wilson obtained the message or whether the accounts of the conversations are complete.

Owens Says the Timeline Does Not Add Up

Owens said she had raised concerns about messages involving Kirk months earlier, while public denials continued. She then pointed to Kirk's later appearance on Glenn Beck, where, according to Owens, Kirk disputed the existence of the messages.

Owens said she subsequently learned through a private conversation that the messages did exist and that she was given an explanation involving Signal.

The dispute also raises questions about the relationship between Wilson and Turning Point USA. Wilson has reportedly characterised his access to information as the result of approaching the organisation in good faith, while critics argue that receiving material unavailable to others creates a need for greater transparency about how it was obtained.

For Owens and Smith, the issue is not simply whether the message is genuine. They argue that the chain of access matters because the message is being used to support a particular account of Kirk's fears before his death.
