Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss's recent WWE Women's Tag Team Championship win at SummerSlam 2025 is now under scrutiny following revelations from Netflix's new docuseries WWE: Unreal. The championship victory, which took place on Saturday, 2 August, during Night One of SummerSlam, saw the duo defeat Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez. However, fans are now questioning whether the alliance was ever genuine after interviews and backstage footage revealed tension between the two performers.

The docuseries, released just a few days after their title win, has ignited speculation across WWE fandom, raising concerns that the pairing may have been orchestrated as a short-term strategic move rather than a true partnership.

SummerSlam Victory Featured Communication Missteps

At WWE SummerSlam, Flair and Bliss were crowned Women's Tag Team Champions in a match marked by visible miscommunication. During the bout, Bliss accidentally struck Flair, prompting a momentary breakdown in team coordination. Despite this, the duo managed to regroup and secure the victory.

The win added another accolade to both superstars' careers. For Flair, it marked her second tag team title; for Bliss, her fourth.

However, their chemistry, or lack thereof, became a talking point for fans and analysts alike, especially considering the sudden nature of their alliance. WWE commentators referred to them as an 'alliance of convenience', further fuelling speculation about the authenticity of their partnership.

WWE: Unreal Docuseries Highlights Tensions

Netflix's WWE: Unreal, which offers a behind-the-scenes look into the lives of WWE superstars, featured key moments that hinted at real-life friction within the locker room. In particular, the docuseries exposed an unscripted moment involving Flair and fellow wrestler Tiffany Stratton, who made a personal remark about Flair's private life during a segment.

The comment, which referenced Flair's recent divorce, was not part of the script and led to a backstage apology from Stratton. 'I need Tiffany to understand that's obviously not how we do this', Triple H said, as reported by TalkSport. 'So, she needs to go to Charlotte and apologise, and they need to get on the same page'.

While Bliss was not directly involved in that incident, fans drew parallels between the geral atmosphere of tension described in the show and the dynamics seen in her alliance with Flair. The docuseries blurred the line between on-screen drama and real backstage interactions, casting new light on WWE's booking decisions and how personalities clash behind the curtain.

Alexa Bliss Calls Flair Relationship 'Complicated'

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Bliss referred to her relationship with Charlotte Flair as 'complicated', suggesting that the alliance may not be grounded in personal friendship. She noted that their partnership was built on mutual respect but not necessarily on closeness, describing it as more professional than personal.

More recently, when asked about which opponent she'd like to "run it back" with, Bliss said, 'I really liked having matches against Charlotte Flair'.

Bliss and Flair both rose through the ranks of WWE with very different paths. Despite brief overlap in their NXT years, the two have not been historically linked as close allies. Their sudden pairing as a tag team surprised many fans, especially given the lack of prior on-screen rapport.
