Going into deadline day, Arsenal looked set to be relatively quiet, with Arsene Wenger insisting that the side were no longer in the market for a left-back to cover for the injured Kieran Gibbs.

But just because the Gunners weren't on the lookout for a defender, didn't mean the day wasn't busy for the club on the transfer front all the same.

While chief executive Ivan Gazidis came out in defence of Arsenal's transfer policies, Ryo Miyiachi confirmed a loan deal to Bolton for the remainder of the season.

Arsene Wenger went against his assurances that no signings would happen, confirming a deal for Borussia Dortmund youngster Thomas Eisfeld. While he doesn't have the reputation of Mario Gotze, the German is beileved to be a possible future European talent, and Arsenal said they couldn't be happier to bring the starlet on board at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Andrey Arshavin was widely connected with an exit from the club, but eventually stayed, and Kieran Gibbs made a long awaited return to training, quashing any possibility of Wenger signing a left-back after all.
