Galaxy S5 will receive Android Lollipop Samsung

The mini model of Galaxy S5 will get the Android Lollipop update in the second quarter of this year, at least Samsung Denmark's official site suggests so.

The Galaxy S5 Mini, currently running the Android KitKat version 4.4.2 will receive the Android 5.0.1 upgrade, according to the listing of Samsung devices along with their software update status put up on the Samsung Denmark site.

This is the second official confirmation after Samsung France via tweet in February mentioned that S5 Mini would get the Lollipop in the second quarter of this year, which means it would be seeded by end-June.

While the mini model is awaiting the Lollipop, the original Galaxy S5 and its variants including S5 Plus and S5 Duos have already been seeded the update.

The mini model is expected to get a newer Lollipop build than the original S5 along with a new TouchWiz UI based on Material Design, including a new notifications panel, new lock screen, updated Samsung apps, big fixes and performance improvements.

As for Galaxy S5 owners, Samsung UK earlier this month acknowledged the issues caused by the Lollipop update and said that its engineers are sending out micro updates to resolve them. The micro updates are dependent on network providers.
