Britney Spears has revealed that she almost died while she was on vacation in Hawaii earlier this month. The Baby One More Time hit-maker said her life flashed right before her eyes when she was pulled under water "for like five minutes" by "six-foot waves" while swimming in the sea.

"I went out and I thought it was like a wave pool, and I was like, 'This is so nice and refreshing and just beautiful'. But the thing I didn't think about is when you come back, the waves really come in hard. I got sucked under for like five minutes," the 34-year-old singer told Scott Mills on BBC Radio 1, according to The Toronto Sun.

"I almost drowned. And I'm like, 'Where is my security? They're just going to let me die here. And then I came in again and another wave took me under," she added.

Britney's near-death experience comes before the release of her comeback album titled Glory, which releases on Friday (26 August). The singer's ninth album has 12 tracks with the new single Make Me. The album also features rapper G-Eazy.

In the same interview, Spears also said that she met Justin Beiber for the first time six years ago. However, the singer said that she had no idea who he was when she met the Sorry hit-maker for the first time.

"He walked into my hotel room and he was like a kid," she said. "Literally, he looked like he was 13 years old but he was 16. I was like, 'Who is this kid in my hotel?' And my sister was like, 'This is Justin Bieber and his mother'. And I was like, 'Oh my God, I cannot believe this'. He's very unassuming. He's a very, very nice, kind boy."

Meanwhile, Spears said she would consider headlining at the 2017 Super Bowl half-time show. "Yes. I would probably do that. I would have to have a little support group, another artist of course. I don't think you would ever do the Super Bowl alone. That would be kind of scary," she said.
