The infamous war of words involving Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez is no news to the fans. But looks like the music superstars might have once again reignited the discussion as they both posed as sexy showgirls for their Las Vegas special edition of Paper magazine.

On one hand, Carey grabbed eyeballs, stripping topless and flaunting her famous curves decked in nothing but a statement necklace and fishnet stockings. While on the other hand, JLo ensured all eyes were on her as she took centre-stage dressed like a Vegas diva in a plunging bodysuit.

However, a social media war soon began when the songstresses took to Instagram to share glimpses of their super-glam magazine cover with fans.

Sharing her topless shot, Carey wrote alongside, "Pick up your copy today to find about all the festivity that happens in Vegas, but doesn't stay in Vegas." Unsurprisingly, her followers responded to the sexy click by bombarding the comments section with raving messages.

But at the same time, some couldn't help but draw comparisons between the two divas.

"She never be like JLo," a fan of the On The Floor singer wrote on Carey's image that showed her smouldering into the lenses while covering up her breasts with her voluminous locks. "JLo looks better and more sexy," another fan added.

In fact, one fan took the comparisons a notch higher, writing, "@Jlo got 68M followers . @mariahcarey got 5M followers. The people of the world have spoken. We love @jlo a little over 10x more than a Mariah Carey. sorry MC".

As the social media debate got intense, soon Carey's fans too shot back. Someone wrote, "You Jlo fans will make anything up to make Mariah look bad. Just give up Mariah will be remembered as one of the greatest singers of all time, while Jlo will be remembered as the girl who played Selena."

Apart from the JLo versus Carey debate, the sensuous snap also saw a round of criticism over photoshop claims. "This body is too fake," a critic wrote on Carey's pic, echoing the opinion of several other viewers.

"What's the problem in being fat???? Stop editing your photos... It's ridiculous. Accept your body or go to the gym," a second user shared, while another exclaimed, "PHOTOSHOP FAIL!!!"
