Comedian Justin Lee Collins has been sentenced to 140 hours of community service and has been ordered to pay costs of three and a half thousand pounds by a judge for harassing his former girlfriend, Anna Larke.

The 38 year old TV funny man, famous for Channel 4 programmes like The Friday Night Project and his own entertainment documentaries on the channel, was found guilty at St. Albans Crown court after a short trial.

The jury decided that what Anna Larke had said was true - that he was obsessive during their relationship between January and July 2011, isolating her from her friends, forcing her to delete her Twitter and Facebook accounts and once - he admitted - he even slapped her. Larke - a recovering alcoholic - described the relationship as 'absolute hell'. Her family were said to be ecstatic at the court decision. A representative from the Crown Prosecution Service said there was evidence that Collins subjected Anna Larke to "physical, psychological and verbal abuse."

However, the comic made no comment after the verdict.
