Kate Middleton Found Meghan Markle 'Abrasive,' Thought She, Harry Had an Agenda, Source Claims
A closer look at the dynamics between the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's relationship has been strained for many years. But before the two women had a falling out, there were attempts on both sides to get along well with each other.
When Markle was still a working royal, she and Middleton appeared together at public events, leading many to believe everything was going well between them. But just like all relationships, no one knows exactly what happens behind closed doors. It was later revealed that Middleton and Markle did not get along primarily because of their different personalities and upbringings.
Early Tensions
Markle and Middleton were photographed attending tennis matches together and joined their husbands on several outings during Markle's early days as a royal. However, their cultural differences soon became apparent. Markle hails from California and loves to give hugs. Middleton, on the other hand, hails from Reading and is not very fond of the gesture – at least not from someone she is not very close to.
Toxic, Abrasive, and Difficult
More details about Middleton and Markle's strained relationship have been released in Russell Myers' new book, 'William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story'. According to the royal editor, Middleton knew early on that Prince Harry and Markle would eventually flee their royal duties and the UK altogether because of Harry and Prince William's strained relationship.
When Prince Harry first introduced Markle to Prince William and Middleton, everything seemed fine. The Waleses were very welcoming of Markle and Middleton wanted to teach her the ropes. However, the 'Suits' alum did not reciprocate Middleton's gesture. It also did not take very long before Middleton and Prince William realised that Harry and Meghan seemed to have an agenda.
'They definitely thought the Sussexes' behaviour stemmed from something more than being difficult. The whole atmosphere between them was pretty toxic. Meghan was being bullish, Kate found her abrasive. She saw the inevitability of the parting of ways, although perhaps not to the extent of what eventually happened', Myers wrote, according to the Mirror.
Trust Lost
Princess Kate also reportedly realised that Markle and Prince Harry could no longer be trusted after they appeared in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Their conversation with the host was the couple's first time airing their grievances to the world. At the time, Prince Harry and Markle claimed that the royal family had concerns regarding their son Archie's skin colour. Markle also claimed that the royal family refused her requests for professional help while battling depression.
A Brother's Love
Still in Myers' book, there are details regarding Prince William and Prince Harry's strained relationship, which stemmed from the fact that one of them is the heir and the other one is the spare. All his life, the Duke of Sussex wanted to make a name for himself and refused to simply follow in his older brother's footsteps. But following years of misunderstandings, Prince William and Prince Harry eventually stopped talking.
Despite their differences, Prince William reportedly tried to show his support for the Sussexes, especially after learning the hardships they felt they went through as working royals.
'He [William] felt as though somewhere down the line, perhaps it is impossible to even say when, that he lost his brother. He became paranoid, angry, obsessive and firmly rooted in the past. There's no doubt, at that time at least, there was a lot of love and support available for Harry', the source wrote.
As of writing, it is believed that Prince William and Prince Harry are still not on speaking terms, and neither are Princess Kate and Markle.
