The Pima County Sheriff's Department has stated that Luke Daley's jail booking is unrelated to Nancy Guthrie's disappearance from her Tucson, Arizona, home.

Daley had already drawn police attention in February, when officers stopped him and searched his mother's home shortly after Nancy disappeared. Police released him hours later without charges.

Nancy, the 84-year-old mother of Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, remains missing more than eight months after her abduction, according to the TV Insider report.

Nancy Guthrie Update Separates Booking From Disappearance

Fox News Digital reported on 6 October that Daley, 37, was arrested in late September. The sheriff's department confirmed the date and location of his booking, while explicitly distancing it from the Nancy Guthrie investigation.

'Luke Daley was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on September 30, 2026,' a PCSD spokesperson confirmed. The spokesperson clarified, 'This is unrelated to the Nancy Guthrie case.'

The remarks quoted by Fox News Digital did not explain why Daley was arrested or identify any charges associated with the September booking.

The department confirmed when he was booked and said the booking was unrelated to Nancy's case, without providing further details.

The September booking followed Daley's earlier public denial of involvement. In March, he had responded to online speculation about his connection to images released during the Nancy Guthrie investigation.

Police Attention In The Nancy Guthrie Case

On 13 February, police stopped Daley in a Culver's car park and searched his mother's home, according to TV Insider. The property is approximately two miles from Nancy's Catalina Foothills neighbourhood.

Police took action two weeks after Nancy went missing. Daley was released without charges within hours, and his attorney, Chris Scileppi, rejected any connection between his client and the disappearance.

Scileppi's February statement read, 'Mr Daley has no link whatsoever to Nancy Guthrie and has no information related to her kidnapping. Like the entire Tucson community, both Mr Daley and his mother are hopeful that Nancy will be returned to her family unharmed.'

The lawyer's denial dates from February, while the department's clarification was reported in October. Scileppi denied that Daley had any link to Nancy or information about her kidnapping, while the spokesperson addressed the 30 September booking.

Nancy Guthrie Images and Daley's Denial

Daley addressed his February detention in a March interview with True Crime Arizona, rejecting online speculation linking him to 'Porch Guy'.

The FBI had released doorbell-camera images depicting a masked man on Nancy's front porch. Daley disputed suggestions that he resembled the person in those images and denied involvement in the case.

'It's not me. I don't see the resemblance of it looking like me. Absolutely not. I have nothing to do with this case,' Daley stated in the interview. 'Someone says something, and then they just go off of it based on no evidence, no truth.'

Nancy was last seen at her Tucson home on the evening of 31 January. According to TV Insider's account, no suspect had been named in her disappearance at the time of its report. Savannah Guthrie has offered a $1 million reward in addition to other reward money, according to TV Insider.
