Manchester United target Paul Pogba has not asked to leave Juventus prior to the upcoming summer transfer window, according to the Italian champions' general director Giuseppe Marotta.

The French international, who originally left Old Trafford under a cloud in 2012 after becoming disillusioned over a lack of first-team football under Sir Alex Ferguson, has become one of Europe's most coveted midfielders during a hugely promising three-year stint in Serie A.

His impressive form alongside the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal in Juventus's star-studded midfield has certainly not gone unnoticed among a number of the continent's most reputable clubs. Manchester United are among a string of prospective buyers believed to be hoping to prise him away from Turin despite having failed to effectively utilise his talents previously.

Barcelona are the latest European giant to be linked with the player. International sporting director Ariedo Braida confirmed earlier in May that he had spoken to Marotta about him but conceded that any potential deal might be difficult given that the La Liga leaders are unable to sign any players in 2015 due to a transfer ban.

While the interest in Pogba's signature continues to grow, however, Marotta insists that the player has not insisted upon a transfer and hinted that it would take a significantly attractive offer for Juventus to consider selling their brightest prospect who is under contract until 2019.

"Pogba has not demanded a transfer," he told Rai as reported by the Daily Mail.

"He is the best young player in the world and it is only normal that some of Europe's biggest clubs want to sign him. But Juventus are a big club as well and we are not easy sellers."

Juventus face arguably their biggest fixture in many years tonight (5 May) when they host Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Pogba will sadly not be available for selection having been out of action since suffering a hamstring injury during the second leg of their 5-1 aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund at the round of 16 stage.

Even without the services of the skilful 22-year-old, Massimiliano Allegri's side have continued their reign of domestic dominance in recent months and a 1-0 win over Sampdoria last time out saw them clinch a fourth successive Serie A title.

They required just a point from that trip to Stadio Luigi Ferraris to confirm their triumph but ended up claiming all three courtesy of Vidal's seventh goal of the season in the first half.
