The Duchess of Sussex reportedly had her personal mobile number exposed after joining a parents' WhatsApp group at the UK school attended by her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, weeks after the family returned to Britain following years based in California.

Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, had spent their school years in the US before beginning their first British school term in September. Archie moved to California with Harry and Meghan in 2020, while Lilibet was born there in 2021. Their move to a school in the UK marked the first time either child had attended school in Britain, according to PEOPLE.

Meghan joined a Year 3 parents' WhatsApp group the night before Archie's first day and replied to messages welcoming her to the school community. A screenshot of the private exchange was later circulated outside the group, with her personal contact details visible. The circumstances surrounding who first shared the screenshot have not been established.

Archie and Lilibet Started School in California

Archie was born in the UK in May 2019 and spent his early years in Britain before the family moved to California in 2020, where he began his education. Lilibet was born in California in June 2021 and also started school there.

The siblings spent their school years in California before the family's extended return to Britain in late August. A source close to Harry and Meghan said getting the children settled 'has been, and remains, their focus'.

The family continues to maintain its home in Montecito, California, while spending an extended period in Britain.

Meghan's Number Appears in Whatsapp Screenshot

According to The Sun, Meghan was added to a parents' WhatsApp group before the children started at the school. Parents reportedly welcomed her, and she replied by thanking them for the warm reception and saying she was happy to be part of the community.

A screenshot of the exchange was subsequently circulated and published with Meghan's personal mobile number visible. The available reporting does not establish which parent first shared the screenshot or whether the disclosure was deliberate.

The incident came only weeks after the family's return to Britain, as Archie and Lilibet adjusted to their first school experience in the country.

RAVEC Reviews Security After UK Return

The reported disclosure emerged as Harry and Meghan's security arrangements were being reviewed following their return to Britain.

ITV News reported that the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures, known as RAVEC, had decided that both should undergo risk assessments. Meghan's assessment is reportedly the first review of her potential security risks since the couple stepped back from royal duties in 2020, while Harry's latest assessment was completed in July.

The formal assessment is carried out through a Risk Management Board, with The Guardian reporting that RAVEC had asked the couple for details of their schedules and daily routines.

Harry has previously challenged changes to his publicly funded police protection after he and Meghan stopped being working royals. His legal challenge over the decision was rejected by the Court of Appeal in 2025.

The WhatsApp disclosure and security review have both emerged during the family's return to Britain, but the available reporting does not establish a direct connection between the two.
