Natalie Harp's rise from a homeschooled California childhood to one of Donald Trump's most visible and trusted aides is an unusual political journey, but the outline of it is remarkably clear.

From California Homeschooling To Point Loma

Harp's early education began outside the traditional American school system. According to reporting about her family background, she was homeschooled by her mother in California and grew up in a strongly evangelical environment. Her next major step was Point Loma Nazarene University, a Christian liberal arts university in San Diego.

She graduated in 2012, giving her a conventional university experience after years of education at home. But her academic path remained firmly connected to Christianity. Three years later, she completed an MBA at Liberty University, one of America's best-known evangelical universities, founded by influential conservative pastor Jerry Falwell Sr.

In a Liberty University profile, she said the institution treated every field of knowledge as a potential mission field and specifically included politics in that philosophy. She also praised Liberty for encouraging Christians to become politically active.

Liberty University Shaped Her Political World

Harp's time at Liberty placed her in an environment where religion, conservative politics and public life frequently overlapped. The university has long played a prominent role in American evangelical politics, making Harp's later political direction less surprising when viewed against her own descriptions of her education.

Her MBA was completed in 2015, the same year Ted Cruz launched his presidential campaign at Liberty. The university had become a significant stop for Republican politicians seeking support from evangelical voters, while Falwell Jr., then leading the institution, was an early and prominent Trump supporter.

Harp later described Liberty as an important influence on how she viewed her role in the workplace and public life. Rather than treating politics as something outside her Christian identity, she presented political involvement as part of that mission.

Cancer Battle Put Her on Trump's Radar

Harp's connection to Trump accelerated after her battle with Stage 2 bone cancer. She became nationally known in 2019 after appearing on Fox News and praising Trump's Right to Try Act, which allows certain terminally ill patients to seek experimental treatments.

Harp credited the legislation with giving her access to treatment and repeatedly described Trump as having helped save her life. Liberty University also highlighted her story, noting that she had become an outspoken supporter of the law.

Harp's public gratitude brought her directly into Trump's political orbit. She joined his 2020 campaign advisory board and spoke at the Republican National Convention that year.

Conservative Media Took Her to Trump's Inner Circle

After becoming a prominent Trump supporter, Harp worked for One America News Network, where she became a television presenter and promoted Trump's political message. She later returned to Trump's orbit, working closely with him at Mar-a-Lago before joining the White House after his 2025 return to office.

Today, Harp serves as Trump's executive assistant and is frequently seen beside him. Her unusual role has earned her the nickname 'human printer' because she carries printed news stories, social media posts and favourable coverage for Trump, who reportedly prefers reading information on paper.
