Content creator Kris 'Swagg' Lamberson has announced that he will host a new set of Call of Duty: Warzone tryouts for FaZe Clan, offering aspiring players a rare pathway into top-level competitive play.

The event, titled the FaZe x Nuke Squad Warzone Showcase, combines open competition with talent scouting at a time when interest in Warzone eSports is reaching new heights.

Beyond bragging rights, the showcase carries tangible incentives. Players will compete for a $1,000 (£725) prize pool, while standout performers could earn the opportunity to represent FaZe Clan at major international competitions, including the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC) and the upcoming Warzone Resurgence Series.

The announcement arrives during a turbulent period for FaZe Clan, with several high-profile creators recently departing the organisation. Against that backdrop, the tryouts signal a renewed emphasis on competitive eSports and emerging talent, positioning Warzone as a central pillar of FaZe's future ambitions.

Warzone Tryouts: Format, Date and Entry Requirements

Swagg made the announcement via his X account. The Call of Duty: Warzone tryouts will take place on 29 January at 12:00 PM PST and 3:00 PM EST. Matches will be played on the Haven's Hollow map, featuring 150-player lobbies made up of trios in a private, custom setting.

Victory conditions are straightforward but demanding. Teams must reach a predetermined score threshold before securing an outright battle royale win, a format designed to reward both consistency and clutch performances under pressure.

Interested players can apply via an official Google Form, although submission does not guarantee a slot in the lobby.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over, stream on their main platform with a face cam, and meet eligibility requirements for both the Esports World Cup and the Resurgence Series. These conditions reflect the event's dual focus on competitive integrity and broadcast-ready presentation.

Swagg's History of Hosting Call of Duty Events

This is not the first time Swagg has stepped into the role of tournament host. In 2025, he organised a Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 LAN event at TwitchCon San Diego, featuring a $25,000 (£18,605) prize pool.

That tournament was widely praised for its production quality and competitive structure, reinforcing Swagg's reputation as a key figure in bridging content creation and eSports. The Warzone tryouts follow a similar philosophy, blending creator-driven engagement with legitimate pathways into professional competition.

What Are the Esports World Cup and Resurgence Series?

The Resurgence Series is a newly announced eSports circuit for Call of Duty: Warzone, running from February to July. It features a total prize pool of $1.2 million (£888,630) spread across three LAN tournaments.

The series begins on 9 February 2026, with online qualifiers determining which teams from Europe and North America advance to the first LAN at DreamHack Birmingham. A second set of qualifiers will follow in April, leading into another LAN event at DreamHack Atlanta.

Everything culminates at the Warzone Resurgence Series Championship in Riyadh, held as part of the Esports World Cup from 29 July to 1 August 2026. There, the top 32 teams will battle for the lion's share of a $1 million (£740,600) prize pool. Call of Duty: Warzone will be one of 24 titles featured at the EWC, alongside games such as Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

FaZe Clan's Uncertain Future and Renewed Competitive Focus

The tryouts also unfold amid major changes within FaZe Clan. Since Christmas, social media has been flooded with farewell messages as founding and long-serving creators confirmed their departures, sparking concerns that the organisation's golden era may be over.

FaZe described the situation as 'heartbreaking' and 'beyond tragic' in a public statement, while stressing that its eSports division would remain unaffected. The company has since clarified that competitive gaming will now be its primary focus, even as financial pressures and restructuring continue behind the scenes.
