Piper Rockelle and Twitch Star Rakai

Piper Rockelle has put an end to weeks of speculation. The 18-year-old confirmed she's in a relationship with Twitch streamer Rakai after the pair were spotted together at this year's Super Bowl in Santa Clara, California, according to People magazine.

The social media personality, who built her career as part of the 'Piper Squad' YouTube collective during the late 2010s, opened up about the relationship in an exclusive interview. And based on what she's saying, this is more than just another internet fling.

'We were just having fun,' Rockelle said. 'It was my first Super Bowl, and honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better person to share it with.'

From Hot Tub Photos to Super Bowl Sightings

The relationship first caught public attention back in January. Rakai posted photos of them together, including one in a hot tub that immediately sent fans into detective mode, trying to figure out if something was going on between the two influencers.

Then came the tattoo. In late January, Rockelle got 'Rakai' inked on her ankle during a livestream, Complex reported. The moment was watched by thousands of viewers as she debated placement with the 17-year-old sitting right next to her. 'Should I do foot or right here?' she asked, pointing between her ankle and forearm. The chat voted for ankle, and she went through with it.

By the time Super Bowl LX rolled around on February 8, the two were photographed sitting side by side in the stands. They looked comfortable. And the internet noticed.

Rakai, who won't turn 18 until November, has built an impressive following in the streaming world. The Syracuse native commands over two million Twitch followers and has racked up millions more across TikTok and Instagram. His rise came largely through collaborations with bigger names like Kai Cenat, whose massive platform helped introduce Rakai to a wider audience.

Despite their young ages and the enormous combined following they both have, Rockelle insists the relationship works because they're on the same wavelength. 'We're both kind of goofy and laid back,' she explained. 'I think that just works for us. People are going to talk no matter what. But at the end of the day, we have fun, I feel safe with Rakai, and I get to be with someone I care about. That's what matters.'

Controversial Year Includes OnlyFans Launch

The new romance comes at an interesting time for Rockelle. To say 2026 started off with a bang would be putting it mildly.

On New Year's Day, she launched an OnlyFans account. The move immediately sparked backlash from critics who questioned why someone with her history as a child influencer would join a platform known primarily for adult content. She claimed to have earned $2.9 million in her first 24 hours, as per Mandatory, though the figure drew skepticism from some observers who questioned the screenshots she shared.

Rockelle hasn't backed down from the decision, though. In an interview with USA Today, she framed the OnlyFans decision as taking control of her own narrative, pushing back against accusations that she's being exploited. 'If people are going to write my narrative and say that I've been exploited my whole entire life, go ahead,' she said. 'I'm exploiting myself.'

It's a complicated position for someone who's spent essentially her entire life online. She started at age eight.

The Dark Side of Growing Up Online

That early start came with consequences. In 2022, eleven families of kids who'd been part of the 'Piper Squad' sued her mother, Tiffany Smith, alleging various forms of abuse. The lawsuit was eventually settled, but the fallout became the subject of a 2025 Netflix documentary called 'Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing.'

The documentary covered the 2022 lawsuit filed by the families.

Rockelle's dating history has also been a public affair. She was involved with fellow content creator Capri Jones throughout much of 2025. She told Rolling Stone the relationship began as a 'social media relationship,' which is exactly what it sounds like.

Things went sideways after they pulled an April Fool's prank claiming Jones had cheated. The joke cost Rockelle 100,000 followers. But here's the kicker: turns out the prank was partially based on reality. Jones later admitted in an October video that he actually had been unfaithful during what he called a 'really, really tough time.' So the prank about cheating turned out not to be a prank at all.

Rakai's Own Controversies

Rakai brings his own set of complications. He's dealt with multiple Twitch suspensions related to content violations. In late 2025, he faced what was initially reported as a two-year ban, though that turned out to be incorrect.

But in the streaming world, bans aren't necessarily career-enders; his comedic style and willingness to lean into chaotic moments have kept his audience engaged despite occasional problems with platform guidelines.

The age difference has become a talking point. Rockelle is 18. Rakai is 17 and won't turn 18 until November. Some followers have questioned the optics. Others point out that the gap is minimal, and both are in similar career positions despite Rakai being slightly younger.

Rakai is still 17, which has led to some discussion online about the relationship.

Making It Work Under the Microscope

When asked about going public with the relationship, Rockelle acknowledged she typically doesn't rush into labels.

'I'm not really someone who rushes to label things,' she said. 'But you know what is going on by the photos. I also won't pretend there's not something there. You can see it.'

Neither has shared much about their plans or how exactly things got started. Both continue grinding away at content creation. Rakai with his streams, Rockelle across YouTube, Instagram, and her newly controversial OnlyFans.

Social media reaction has been split. Supporters flooded their comments with congratulations and heart emojis. Critics raised eyebrows at everything from the age gap to conducting a relationship under the microscope of millions of followers.

Neither has directly engaged with the negative commentary.

Their relationship, in many ways, highlights the strange reality of being part of the first generation to truly grow up online. Every milestone gets documented and dissected by audiences who've watched them since they were kids. Every relationship. Every mistake.

Rockelle seems determined not to let outside voices dictate her choices, though. After years of navigating public opinion about everything from her content to her career moves, she's made it clear she's living life on her own terms, relationship and all.

With millions watching their every move, this newly confirmed couple is guaranteed to remain a hot topic.
