'Big Brother 28' Winner Rick Devens Betrays Drew Campbell Before Winning $810K in Finale Twist
Rick Devens chose Taylor Brown over longtime ally Drew Campbell for the Final Two

Rick Devens won 'Big Brother 28' after tearfully cutting his close ally Drew Campbell and choosing Taylor Brown for the Final Two. The decision overturned Devens' earlier plan to take Drew to the Final Two after Taylor made a last-minute pitch that taking Drew to the Final Two could hurt his chances with the jury. Devens then defeated Taylor 6-1 to claim the $750,000 (£568,210) grand prize, taking his total Big Brother 28 winnings to $810,000 (£613,667).
The Big Brother 28 finale began with Devens, Drew and Taylor competing in the three-part Final Head of Household competition. Taylor won Part 1, while Devens defeated Drew in Part 2, leaving Devens and Taylor to compete in Part 3 for the final HOH.
Devens ultimately won Part 3, giving him the power to decide which houseguest would join him in the Final Two. Gold Derby's finale recap covered the final-three battle between Devens, Drew and Taylor as the season reached its conclusion.
The victory put Drew's fate entirely in the hands of the player he had trusted throughout the game.
Devens Cuts Drew After Their 'Father and Son' Bond
Drew had already helped Devens reach the Final Three. At the Final Four, Drew had the power to choose between Devens and Dee Valladares and ultimately evicted Dee, keeping Devens in the game. Drew's decision helped send Devens into the Final Three, only for Devens to eliminate him at the next opportunity.
The pair had developed an unusually close relationship during the season and had described their prospective Final Two pairing in 'father' and 'son' terms. Devens had previously told Drew that he planned to take him to the Final Two.
Before the final HOH decision, Taylor made a last-minute pitch to Devens. She argued that taking Drew to the Final Two could hurt his chances with the jury, prompting Devens to reconsider whether loyalty to Drew was worth the potential risk.
After winning the final competition, Devens chose Taylor instead of Drew. The move sent Drew to the jury in third place. Devens made the decision tearfully, while Drew was visibly emotional as he left the game.
Taylor's Pitch Changes the Final Two Matchup
The finale's biggest shock came from Devens reversing his earlier plan to take Drew to the end.
Instead of facing the ally with whom he had built a close bond, Devens went against Taylor for the Big Brother 28 title. Taylor's argument reframed the decision around which Final Two matchup could give Devens the stronger chance of winning the jury vote.
The decision gave Devens a different Final Two opponent and set up the final jury vote.
Rick Devens Beats Taylor Brown 6-1
With Drew eliminated, Devens and Taylor faced the jury in the Big Brother 28 Final Two.
Devens highlighted his competition victories and strategic moves, while Taylor made the case for her resilience and ability to survive difficult points in the game. The jury ultimately awarded Devens six of the seven votes, making him the Big Brother 28 winner. Taylor received one vote and finished as runner-up with $75,000 (£56,821).
Devens Leaves 'Big Brother 28' With $810K
Devens' total Big Brother 28 winnings went beyond the grand prize.
He received $750,000 (£568,210) for winning the season, $50,000 (£37,881) for being named America's Favorite Houseguest, and $10,000 (£7,576) from the Pharaoh's Curse twist. Together, the three announced payouts brought his total winnings to $810,000 (£613,667).
