Police are investigating a shooting outside the Los Angeles-area residence of singer and entrepreneur Rihanna that led to the arrest of a female suspect within minutes of the incident. Authorities say several rounds were fired toward the gated property on Coldwater Canyon Drive on 8 March while Rihanna was inside the home. However, no harm or injuries were reported.

For now, investigators say the motive remains unclear as detectives continue reviewing surveillance footage and evidence recovered from the suspect's vehicle, though some initial details related to the suspect have emerged.
What Police Say Happened
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting occurred shortly after 1.15 p.m. in the Beverly Hills Post Office area, a residential neighbourhood in the hills above Los Angeles.
Witnesses reported seeing a white Tesla stop across the street from the property's front gate. Investigators say the driver, described as a woman, fired multiple rounds from what police believe was an AR-15-style rifle toward the mansion before leaving the scene.

Officers responded within minutes after neighbours called 911, reporting gunfire. Police said several bullets struck the gate and other parts of the property, including a vehicle parked in the driveway. At least one round reportedly penetrated an interior wall of the home.
A helicopter unit tracked the suspect vehicle as it left the area heading south on Coldwater Canyon Drive.
Arrest Made Less than An Hour Later
Police said the suspect was located about 30 minutes later in a shopping centre parking lot in the Sherman Oaks area.
Officers took the woman into custody without incident and recovered the rifle along with several spent shell casings from the vehicle. Authorities said additional ammunition was also found inside the car.

The suspect, described by witnesses as a woman in her 30s with braided hair wearing a cream-coloured blouse and dark pants, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and firearms offences. Her name has not yet been released publicly.
Investigators say the woman appeared to be acting alone. Her phone and vehicle have been seized as detectives attempt to determine a motive.
Rihanna Was Inside During the Attack
Sources familiar with the situation say Rihanna was inside the home when the shots were fired and was not injured. It remains unclear whether A$AP Rocky or the couple's children were present at the time.

The couple share the property, a large gated estate purchased in 2023 in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighbourhood, known for its privacy and celebrity residents.
Representatives for Rihanna have not issued a public statement about the incident. People close to the singer told media outlets she was shaken but safe.
Is There A Link to A$AP Rocky?
Police say there is currently no evidence connecting A$AP Rocky to the shooting.
The property is often described as belonging to both Rihanna and the rapper, which has led to speculation online about whether the incident could be linked to Rocky's past legal issues. Investigators, however, say there is no indication that the shooting is connected to the rapper or anyone in the couple's circle.
Detectives from the LAPD's robbery-homicide division are leading the investigation and are focusing on the suspect's background, digital activity and possible motives.
