Federer provided a masterclass in grass-court tennis in overpowering the Kazakh Mikhail Kukushkin, while Novak Djokovic made light work of the Frenchman Jeremy Chardy. Joining the second and third seeds in the second round were three-time Wimbledon runner-up Andy Roddick, 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro and 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt.
